I plan on watching A Bridge Too Far tonight.
‘The Gambler’ is an adaptation of the short Dostoevsky novel. Walter Hill’s The Warriors is one of the best action films of the decade.

and they think of it as discriminating (in a good way)..
sigh
tis okay. I usually can handle it but dont like the hassle.
Nice there are some here who can post intelligently & not be proud of the fact the last movie they saw at theater was the Sound of Music AND that everything out of Hollywood is trash to not waste your money on...
have a nice weekend - what is left of it ES..
Yes and no. It certainly doesn't follow the novel's plot, it just has some of the same concerns.

I love it. It's totally unrealistic and meant to be that way. I was gratified to see Hill say recently that people mistunderstood it, due to the violence that broke out in theaters at the time of its release. I think he made a miscalculation by adding the comic book pages to the latest cut, though.
"waaaaaariorrrrrsssss....come out to play-ayyyy!"
Thank you for posting the cover,
it really was a very good movie. Just like I remembered movies from my youth no violence or cursing. Things have sure changed in the past 35 years or so. Oh I hope that didn’t give away my age to much. :)
My wife and I were saying the same thing right after seeing the movie. ...and now I've been craving a strudel.
Best line of the movie: Gene Hackman’s Maj. Gen. Stanislaw Sosaboski, “Just making sure whose side you’re on.”
So were we supposed to infer that Landa knew he was talking to Soshona in that scene, or was it just coincidence that he ordered milk for her?
I think Tanantino left us hanging on that point on purpose. I never was quite sure. Perhaps Landa was testing to see if he’d get a reaction from her by ordering milk.
