Left Wing McCarthyism: NPR Fires Juan Williams
Neoavatara ^ | October 21, 2010 | Neoavatara

Juan Williams, a long time NPR correspondent as well as a Fox News contributor, was fired yesterday because of supposedly anti-Muslim remarks made while appearing on the O'Reilly Factor earlier in the week.

From the Washington Post:

NPR said in a statement that Williams's remarks--including that he gets "worried" and "nervous" when he sees people dressed in Muslim-style clothing on airplanes--"were inconsistent with our editorial standards and practices, and undermined his credibility as a news analyst with NPR."

Muslim advocacy groups and liberal commentators had reacted with outrage to what Williams said and called for his ouster. Conservative bloggers, in turn, blasted the dismissal as political-correctness spiraling out of control.

"NPR should address the fact that one of its news analysts seems to believe that all airline passengers who are perceived to be Muslim can legitimately be viewed as security threats," CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad said in a statement issued before the firing was announced. "Such irresponsible and inflammatory comments would not be tolerated if they targeted any other racial, ethnic or religious minority, and they should not pass without action by NPR."

Now, that is all fine and dandy...except it is simply not true.

Sorry black folks, the left has acquired a new favored minority, kind of like the new kitten in Garfield.

Sure, your racist blather will be tolerated and used in most cases but you will be trumped in case of any conflict with the new “kitten”.

I wonder if Juan will change his opinion about the liberal cause now?

"Such irresponsible and inflammatory comments would not be tolerated if they targeted any other racial, ethnic or religious minority, and they should not pass without action by NPR."

Not many other racial, ethnic, or religious minorities have quite the same consistent attitude towards violence and terrorism than the Muslim community is currently dealing with. But if they were, then yes... the same kind of comments should be made about them as well.

It’s *NOT* McCarthyism.

McCarthyism sought to root out and expose enemies of the Republic.

NPR seeks to protect and shield our enemies.

Sen. McCarthy was a patriot.

NPR are cowardly TRAITORS.

Juan was much too good for NPR anyway. I know he is a liberal but he is not a PC moonbat liberal. I have seen him defend the right side of an issue before. He seems to be one who truly believes what he says. This is not the first time the libs have went after Juan. They want people who will completely tow the leftist line, no matter how ridiculous the issue gets. Juan doesn’t do that. Yes he is a leftist but he is not the barking moonbat type of leftist. Juan needs to pull a Dick Morris and see the light and come over to our side.

Too bad I canceled my T.V. last week that would have been nice to see, but to much junk on the tele.

Except being a black moslem is truly a special class. You get a private 747 and Secret Service protection. Maybe Juan should consider "submission." It's a religion of peace, after all.

According to Obama “facts and science and argument does not seem to be winning the day all the time because we’re hardwired not to always think clearly when we’re scared,”

Looks like NPR is scared of something.

Pretty sad when the lefties start to eat their own.

I suppose the fact that he dared to try and make the case for the left on Fox News made him a target.

I’m going to miss this Great Leap Forward and wind up in a re-education camp.

It's interesting to watch the Victim Hierarchy shift around, isn't it? Currently, I'd say women are on the bottom (as usual), blacks next, hispanics above blacks (bumped them a couple years ago, actually), then gays (though closely tied with hispanics) and muslims are definitely on top.

I base this on news stories. For instance, if gays are attacked by hispanics or muslims, does the news story do its best to downplay the race of the attacker or the sexual orientation of the victim? Right now, it's kind of neck-n-neck with hispanics/gays. But blacks were definitely kicked to the curb not long ago, and the only way to get preferential treatment is to limit their attacks to whites. Muslims, however, can take on ANYONE right now.

I get worried when I’m walking down a street alone at night, and pass a black man. I keep those thoughts to myself, however (except for posting them now). I would be very worried if I were on a flight with a bunch of Muslim, or Arabs, even if they were is street clothes. That’s just building on life experience.

Years ago, I remember some commentator saying that racism is a sliding scale. Nobody is completely free of racism. Anyone who calls someone a racist is just a little further down the scale.

Screw NPR. Not that I gave money to them in the first place, but if I did, I would stop.

Meeting half way is certainly far enough, thank you very much.

There is nothing more painful to me at this stage in my life than to walk down the street and hear footsteps and start thinking about robbery. Then look around and see somebody white and feel relieved.... After all we have been through. Just to think we can't walk down our own streets, how humiliating.

Quit smearing McCarthy. I expect it from libtards but conservatives really should get educated about the truth.
