Yes, it has been done before (including in the last comparable year: 1994).
Yes, it can be done this year (a GOP pick-up, of a U.S. House seat held by a scandal-plagued Chicago Democrat).
With the official support of his campaign, we hosted a "moneybomb" this week, for the Rev. Isaac Hayes, the Republican nominee for the U.S. House of Representatives, in IL's 2nd Congressional District.
Jesse Jackson, Jr. is involved in scandal after scandal - and now has a 72% UNFAVORABLE RATING!!
=====> Please check out our blog post... and CONTRIBUTE NOW to the campaign of the Rev. Isaac Hayes!
(Let's extend this "moneybomb" through the weekend!)

Even the Washington Post (not to mention the Chicago Tribune) recognizes that this race is winnable...
Rev. Isaac Hayes needs our help though, to defeat Jacko Junior!!
Please support this effort!
Can you imagine?... A conservative Christian Republican Congressman in Obama's Chicago backyard!! ;-)
bump for check out later.
A major Chicago area newspaper DOESN'T endorse a Chicago machine RAT running in a heavily RAT district? Color me surprised. We couldn't even get the "conservative" Chicago Tribune to endorse Hayes over the ultra corrupt Jackson. The Southtown Star tries to be the south suburban equivilent of the Daily Herald. Even more amazing is the Southtown is owned by the Sun-Times, but their editoral staff has been very independent this year and broken with the Sun-Times on some major races. Someone must have slipped the Southtown staff an integrity pill. But don't be alarmed, it will wear off by tomorrow and they'll be back to endorsing crooked commies.
BTW, here’s Rev. Issac Hayes firing up the crowd at the Fire Pelosi rally last week:

Nice. It has happened before (a paper endorsing a long shot Republican in Chicago) but it’s rare.
