You may not be surprised when you hear that chicken soup was voted as the overall winner of nations favorite.
My favorite soup is actually a stew. It is the stew of modern conservative activism. We have the roux or broth or traditional conservatism, the meat of rigorous anti-Maxism, the varied vegtables of fiscal and economic common sense, the broad but fragrant onion base of those willing to serve in the world of politics and public service (tears when they are “pealed” in the open air we deal with as it occurs) and the bay leaves of libertarianism.
I hope we have that stew in every household on election eve.
I see you’re in California. New Greek-tinged place, “Jack’s”, opened in Pleasant Hill (East of SF) a couple months back and their Avgolemono wasn’t bad.
My favorite restaurant soup has to be the Chicken Gumbo that was (still is?) served at Christo’s in Brockton, MA on Saturdays. Lots of chicken, rice, veggies. A cup of that soup, a greek salad and coffee, and we were set for the afternoon!
Tomato Bisque with basil and red pepper.
And I’m normally a carnivore with the attitude of “vegetables aren’t food, vegetables are what food eats.”
Of course, before I found out I had a shellfish allergy, I’d have said Lobster Bisque with a sherry cream.
Does Parmesan Corn Chowder count ?
Beef Barley. But I love all kinds of soup.
I’m a Southerner raised on all kinds of gumbo, dumplings and what not. The day I walked into a Jewish deli and ate matza ball soup I thought I’d died and gone to heaven! Can’t explain it.
Northern navy bean with ham. I have a lot to do this PM. My co-workers give me a wide berth.
On the other hand, I DID have a particularly memorable soup at the Hog Penny Inn in Bermuda. It was, I think, a Fish Soup, heavily braced with Rum. Quite invigorating...
A simple dish of chowder, in the past considered to be "poor man's food," has a history that is centuries old. Vegetables or fish stewed in a cauldron thus became known as chowder in English-speaking nations, a corruption of the name of the pot or kettle in which they were cooked. Different kinds of fish stews exist in almost every sea-bound country in the world.
Don’t forget the grilled cheese sandwich with that creamy tomato soup.
Been eating this stuff since I was too young to heat it up myself.
Hot & Sour (the chinese penicillin), Tomato, and Chicken Soup.
Manhattan clam chowder
Outside of “Cherry Slurry”, I’d have to say my favorite soup was split pea/ham.
My favorites are:
CHICKEN WITH RICE
CHUNKY VEGETABLE BEEF
TOMATO
PROGRESSO SAVORY BEEF BARLEY
I like most any soup, but homemade chicken soup remains my favorite.... next it’s homemade clam chowder.
I love all kinds of soups, but I’ve expanded my “repetoire” of recipes and here are some I really like:
Italian Sausage, Spinach soup (sounds weird, but delicious)

Tom Ka Gai (really good if you have a clogged up head from a cold..spice it up a little more than usual.)

And at this time of year really yummy...Cream of Pumpkin (if you can find a can of pumpkin..I hear this year the shortage has eased.)

Chicked tomatillo.
Steak soup baby!!
Need to add She Crab Soup. Unbelieveably delicious.
