I’m An American (video)

One of the best things of being apart of Liberty Juice is the amazing people we get to meet through this portal each and every day. Yesterday, John Schwarzman reached out to us and asked us to listen to a music video that he wrote and produced. I was very touched by the lyrics and the emotion behind it and felt it worthy to share with our Liberty Juice readers. Please read his story below and take a minute or two to listen to the video. I know you will be touched…just as we were.

" As a small business owner, we’ve taken a beating in this economy and are very concerned about the direction this administration and congress are taking our country. I have two grandchildren, and I want them to enjoy the same opportunities I have had. My business partner and her son, who is a truck driver, were talking in the early part of the summer and he felt a lot of the same concerns that I did. He said, “With everything that’s going on, someone needs to write a song. Someone needs to say what everyone is feeling!“ I thought it was a great idea, but I didn’t know any bands or songwriters.

I am what you might call a “spare bedroom” guitar player, and other than fiddling around, I have never written a song before. I thought “Well, if I try it and it’s terrible, I’ll just put it in a drawer and no one will ever know.” I worked on it for about a week, tapping lyrics into my I-phone. When I finished, I knew I had something that expressed what I was feeling, both about the problems we face and our capacity to overcome them, and I thought maybe I was speaking for others as well.

I decided to make a recording but I knew no one would want to hear me fumbling around playing or singing it. I received help from local (Washington area) musicians and an absolutely incredible singer. I booked studio time, got everyone together to play the parts, and I played the guitar solo.

Over the next week I played it for some friends. One woman welled up, someone else got goose bumps and I thought that, since I had something that seemed to affect people and this would probably never happen again in my life, I should “go for it” and make a video.

After a frantic couple of weeks of selecting images and video clips, scheduling studio time, shooting and editing, I had the video. I uploaded it to You Tube to see what would happen and I sent out CDs to conservative talk radio hosts around the country.

The response has been incredible. This song seems to touch people. The video has almost 11,000 views in just over two weeks, with lots of wonderful, heartfelt comments. I was a guest for an hour on WSBA NEWSRADIO 910 in York, PA with host Gary Sutton. He played the song and asked people to call in and talk about what the lyrics meant to them. Many did, with real emotion.

So, now I am determined to have as many people hear it as possible. I am reaching out to everyone I can think of to see if the song speaks to them and if it does I ask that they post it and share it “liberally.”

God bless America!"

Well then here is the direct link to it, for those who do not wish to visit a blog:

who do not wish to visit a blog:

The blog's message is as important as the song.

Well there's the message, such as it is, posted above.

Using a stolen video as blog-hit bait is rather scummy, don't you think?

This question puzzles me. How does one steal a YouTube video?

The Free Republic post contains the blog but I often want to bookmark the referenced link and in this case, the link contains the video as well as the blog's message.

To my way of observation, the blog's message is part and parcel of the video.

My point is that I prefer the original presentation and I want the person posting to know that. I would be disappointed if the posting only contained the video link minus the blog's message.

I have no problems with you enhancing the posting. I am sure many appreciate your efforts, I’m just not one of them, and I wanted you to know that.

Humblegunner,
If you would take the time to read instead of rushing to judgement on every post, you would have realized that the song’s writer and producer, John Schwarzman, contacted me specifically and asked me to post his song. I asked him to write an introduction and that I would be happy to do so. The song was not “stolen”- as you accuse- but posted at the request of the owner. Again, I would encourage you, to find something worthwhile and meaningful with your time— something that would actually make a difference in this world.

Like pimping a blog for example?

Since you possess the requisite omniscience to criticize what I do with my time,
perhaps you would care to again exercise this omniscience and list my accomplishments.

Either that or admit you have no clue what you are talking about.

Free Republic is full of people who hold their nose at your “accomplishments”...Anyone who has the time to do what you do must actually accomplish very little else.

And the amount of email that I get on a daily basis with notes of appreciation, tips and contributions for our “little blog” would put you to shame.

Now... please...get off your computer and do something productive. 99% of FR begs you.

Sorry, I don’t take any kind of advice from n00bs or from blogpimps.

In combination, those two attributes render your words meaningless.

If you really wanted the message to reach as many people as possible, you would include the video link.

I cannot view embedded video on my BlackBerry but I can play a youtube video directly.
