Interesting though, on Twitter the only abbeviation I use is 'w/'. I've noticed that (new-to-Twitter) Ann Coulter does likewise. The vast majority of our 'tweets' have no 'abbrvs', as we prefer to spell out the entire words.
It actually makes for a good exercise, i.e., using properly spelled; complete words in the message whilst not going over the character limit.
