What is the best hunting knife?
The one you didn’t leave on the kitchen counter when you packed.

I prefer the SPYDERCO Harpy Carbon Fiber. But so did Dr. Hannibal Lecter....

This is as good of a thread to ask as any: I need an outdoor work knife. It needs to be folding, worn on a belt, and of a size that won't get me hassled by the cops. (I live in Illinois).
Again, I need to work with it.

The one you didnt leave on the kitchen counter when you packed. Amen! I've butchered more game with my ancient little 2 blade Schrade pocket knife than any of the expensive knives that didn't manage to make it to the field.

At least now I have enough spares that there is one in every truck.

Fixed or folding, will it be used for skinning/gutting animals? How about butchering or as a camp knife?

The old Buck folder has worked well for millions for lots of years.

I have a Coldsteel Master Hunter that has gutted and skinned about a dozen deer. I just use a steel on it, and it comes right back to sharp enough to shave arm with.

I believe that Buck to be similar to the one with which kanawa dispatched the bear.
