"Outside of the state of Texas, Cincinnati, Ohio, is the most chili-crazed city in the United States. Cincinnati prides itself on being a true chili capital, with more than 180 chili parlors. Cincinnati-style chili is quite different from its more familiar Texas cousin, and it has developed a cult-like popularity.
What makes it different is the way the meat is cooked. The chili has a thinner consistency and is prepared with an unusual blend of spices that includes cinnamon, chocolate or cocoa, allspice, and Worcestershire. this is truly the unofficial grub of Cincinnati.
The people of Cincinnati enjoy their chili spooned over freshly made pasta and topped with a combination of chopped onions, shredded Cheddar cheese, refried beans or kidney beans, and crushed oyster crackers. If you choose "the works," you are eating what they call Five-Way Chili. Make sure to pile on the toppings - that's what sets it apart from any other chili dish."
I thought this was a chili thread.
My wife is from Ohio. I derisively call that Ohio gravy.
It’s Skyline time, baby!!!!
Ditto that. Crackers, or tortilla chips to give a little body to it, maybe. But pasta? I don't get it.
Really good chili - competition type stuff - is just meat and sauce. Made by someone who knows what they're doing, there ain't nothin' better.
No...the real question is Beans or No Beans.
By the way Cincinnati Chili looks to me like a FUBAR Taco/Pasta!
One HELL of a mixed marriage.
damn you freepers...now I’m leaving the office in search of the nearest Skyline in Cleveland....my afternoon is shot! I know a long nap will follow.
What is with the oyster crackers?
It’s good chili; however, I will go with the Texas chili.
Guess I'm a purist. This is Chili.
We sometimes stay at the Amari Watergate hotel in Bangkok. Yes Thailand!
The american themed restaurant, bar on the lower floor there has Cincinnati Chili on the menu.
It’s not very.
Them little white things on side of plate, UFOs or living creatures?
Still Taco on Pasta!!!!!
This time with Oyster Crackers, still not CHILI!
Ah yes, 3 coney’s with everything, now we’re talking....but they’re Gold Star. Either Skyline or Camp Washington are my favs.
Texas Chili, Cincinnati Chili.....whatever. None of it compares to New Mexico red or green. All the rest is just heavily seasoned tomato sauce.
