These are the same people who thought putting Al Franken in the Senate was a good idea. So, Democrat genius, Zoe Logfren arranged to have “comedian” Stephen Colbert testify in front of the United States Congress–in character. Colbert’s testimony was essential to crafting a plan for dealing with illegal immigration.

Byron York summarizes Colbert’s stirring testimony:

"Then Colbert began his testimony, which was an in-character schtick based on a one-day visit to an upstate New York farm. ‘This is America,’ Colbert said. ‘I don’t want a tomato picked by a Mexican.’ As the hearing went on, Colbert said things like, ‘I was a cornpacker…cornpacker is a derogatory term for a gay Iowan.’"

It might be laughable if the taxpayers were not stuck with the bill. And if we didn’t have to worry about the rest of the world, including our enemies watching this embarrassing display of congressional idiocy.

“As the hearing went on, Colbert said things like, ‘I was a cornpacker…cornpacker is a derogatory term for a gay Iowan.’”

Even though he may be right (though I am not familiar with Gay slang), they should have escorted him from the building at that point.

This pretty much describes the last couple years of Congressional activity, imho.

We need to replace the children with bad attitudes on the Hill with adults. They are starting to make my eyes water.

What could they possibly have been thinking of?

I like the picture of the factory worker Neville, who didn’t like to tell his mates what he did for a living....[picture of Neville on the assembly line packing fudge (clearly labeled) into shipment crates..]

This will be in the history books written 1,000 years from now as an example of American decadence. Remember Caligula’s horse being made a Senator?

This stupid stunt by Colbert was just more ammunition for the Republican/Tea Party candidates to make their case that while Americans are hurting, the Democrat congress amuses themselves by allowing an entertainer, testifying under oath, in character, no less, to entertain the committee members. So much for the Democrat (and some Republican) attacks on Christine O'Donnell for not being 'serious'. This idiotic stunt will come back to haunt the Democrats on November 2nd. Americans are fed up with congress and it's shenanigans. This stupid display is not just embarrassing for the Democrats but more proof that they have to go.

Colbert is a jerk. A few years ago he was selected as the “entertainer” at the White House correspondents’ dinner. The comedian typically will have some lighthearted jokes at the expense of the President. Colbert had a lot of mean-spirited jokes about Bush, who had to sit there and listen to them. Of course most of the people present were liberals so they probably enjoyed the show.
