FReep this Poll: Would You Support a Tea Party Candidate over the GOP in the 2012 General Election?
Pundit Press ^ | 9/19/2010

Trying to pick everyone's brains out there in internetland. If the Republican nomination was sewn up by a RINO-- a John McCain, Lindsey Graham, or a Rudy Giuliani, would you support a third-party Tea Party candidate like Sarah Palin or Christine O'Donnell rather than throwing your weight behind the establishment campaign?

So would it be the RINO to prevent another term for Obama? Tea Party to remain true to principles? Or if you're insane-- Barack Obama to destroy the economy. Or someone else?

I'm not going to hand the Presidency because of my own obstinance. I did that with Perot and ended up with 8 years of Bubba. Not again!

RINO (John McCain)— we must prevent Obama’s second term 6.38% (6 votes)

Tea Party (Sarah Palin)— we must be true to principles 85.11% (80 votes)

Democrat (Barack Obama) 0% (0 votes)

Someone else 8.51% (8 votes)

Total Votes: 94

I would have great difficulty opting for the Tea Party candidate unless he/she had good chance to win. Sarah Palin, for instance, still polls under the Obamanation.

Well lets see. The question is one that we would disparage were it on the left. Would you support a RINO? Really? thats not biased. I voted correctly but i’m not thrilled with that sort of leading question.

Welcome to FR. Blog polls are pretty meaningless, but a “Tea Party” candidate running as an independent or third party campaign in the 2012 general would do nothing other than help obama win reelection.

Just like Perot in 1992 helped clinton win, and Nader in 2000 might have helped W defeat algore, a Tea Party candidate would simply siphon “anti-Obama” votes away from the candidate running against Obama.

False premise. There isn't going to be a GOP RINO candidate in 2012, he will never survive the primary just like Castel-Bennet-Murkowski-Crist et al. did not past it this year.

What is more likely is a 3rd party RINO running as spoiler when the Conservative wins the GOP nomination like happened in 1980.

You didn’t understand that his main intent was to cause division? If he cared so much about our country, where is this chicken man now?

Tea party is NOT a party.

This is just another attempt by the Dems to sow division between the GOP and the tea party movement, because they have nothing else to offer, except government dictatorship and socialism, not to mention an America-destroying agenda, but I am being redundant.

Just remember how Clinton got elected — all those people voting for Ross Perot, to teach Republicans a lesson — look how that worked out, Same in 2006, conservatives focused on defeating the “RINO”s, instead of the Dems.

Another stupid aspect of the poll in the first place is that if a candidate like Sarah Palin were to attempt to win the GOP nomination and fail she would NOT try to mount some third party or Tea Party campaign to split the anti-Obama vote. That is not her nature or her character to do so. MEkowski might do such a thing, but not Palin.

Thank goodness my candidate is Charlotte Bergmann (GOP) and is Memphis Tea Party backed. Her big problem is FUNDING, as the GOP establishment have written off the US 9th District TN, it’s held by POS 2 term obama butt kisser Steve Cohen. Who says he votes like a black woman, (he’s a white, Jew) BUT won’t debate his black, GOP opponent, she won 61% of the GOP primary vote over 2 other male candidates.

“I vote like a black woman,” he said in an interview. “I don’t know the black experience, but I know about being a minority and being discriminated against because of religion.”

Cohen also compares 0 to Jesus, Palin to Pontius Pilate

You missed the point, not a Tea (political) Party, but a tea party vetted candidate.

Now we have the grass roots choosing our own candidate and NOT the GOP establishment doing it for us.

TEA PARTY are ‘We the People’. Isn’t that how it should be?

Count me in if the Tea Party has a plan to restore the jobs and plants that were exported.

The question can be restated thusly: would you rather get poked in one eye (the RINO choice) or in both eyes (vote Tea Party, get Obama).

Gotta go for the RINO.

With both of my eyes poked, Obama would be free to rob me, well, blind.

My first instinct would be Tea Party, but that decision has to be balanced with electability, as well. I want 0bama OUT in 2012.

I voted for Perot, too. I don’t consider it a mistake. I remember the Bush answer when questioned about going back on his vow of no new taxes. He replied, “Read my hips.”

That P.O.ed me more than I can adequately express. Never, ever regretted my vote for Perot.

I voted for McCain, too. Never again will I vote for a RINO! Let the chips fall where they may. No more lesser of two evils for me. Flame away.
