I doubt that Chris Coons, Christine O’Donnell’s opponent, thought that the first item on the agenda for today would be damage control over Harry Reid’s possessive statement, calling Chris Coons “my pet.” Shudders went down the spines of backs all over the country as we watched Harry Reid say it not once, but twice. Chris Coons was forced to respond and distance himself from Creepy Harry today through his spokesperson who told Beltway Confidential:
“We’re hoping the Majority Leader will apologize to Chris’ wife, because she’s the only one who gets to call him that,” McElhatton responded with a laugh. It’s the campaign’s official line, but I then asked about how the “pet” remark might play in the race against O’Donnell. It’s well known that Republicans are going to hit Coons hard for raising taxes as New Castle County executive. Won’t Reid’s enthusiastic embrace feed the narrative that Coons will go along with every big-spending, tax-raising Democratic initiative in Washington? “Chris is not anyone’s pet and will not be a rubber stamp for anyone,” McElhatton answered.

That’s actually a pretty good line. It’d do well enough to take the attention of the “pet” thing if its ever raised in a debate.

Yeah, Harry's pet “something” for sure. Wonder if Harry has a special bling-bling collar and leash especially to lead Coon around on? Guess I should stop lest I go beyond the Freeper threshold, the whole thing has a bizarre element to it to say the least....
Harry actually confused Coons was one of his beloved, clean and articulate, house servants. Just another boo-boo on his part.
Unless his votes oppose the Reid/Obama agendas about half the time how can he be anything but a “pet” of the democratic leadership.
The base will like him.
