Breast cancer patients on edge (death panels in camoflage)
Daily Caller ^ | 9-16-10 | Derek Hunter

As the government moves to involve itself in more of our healthcare in the ramp-up to the implementation of Obamacare, the old ways in which it interferes with the doctor-patient relationship serve as a stark reminder of what is come.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the regulatory body that basically sets the tone for which drugs patients have access to, is preparing to dramatically shift the drug approval process for the United States.

It appears that using the late-stage cancer drug Avastin as a test case, the FDA is using cost as a factor in the drug approval process.

The result of the “de-labeling” of the drug is that only those who can afford to pay for the drug will have access to it. Medicare and private insurance companies will be able to deny breast cancer patients coverage for this life-extending drug

CNN reports on what the decision could mean to cancer patients, including Marcia Gilbert who has fought breast cancer for 15 years and relies on Avastin to keep cancer away. For cancer patients like Gilbert, the FDA’s decision creates fear and anxiety about the future.

The senior citizens rights group 60 Plus has measured this anxiety with a new poll of the American people. It’s not just cancer patients that fear what the FDA is proposing. Seniors and women — especially swing seniors and women — are upset about it.

Here it is .. black and white. If you're wealthy, you live. If you're not: oh, so sorry. Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel must be gleeful.

So the moral to the story is — don’t get breast cancer?

If it ever involves me, the people involved in the decision won’t need health care when I find them .

“Here it is .. black and white. If you’re wealthy, you live. If you’re not: oh, so sorry. Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel must be gleeful.”

Instead of the way it is now, where if you are wealthy you live, and if you are not, your grandchildren get to live in slavery so you could live a while longer?

Like it or not, there is a cost factor involved with government programs, and there is a freedom factor involved in taking peoples money to provide expensive care to sick people.

Don’t worry, your grandchildren won’t be able to afford any healthcare with people like you.

I know you didn’t think about it that way - the money just appears to provide the care that you want, no matter the cost, as long as you don’t have to pay for it.

Well, we’re NOT wealthy, but have access to insurance, and yet when I called for an appointment with my doctor, they said I could only have an appointment every two years now.

Thank you, fake president for making health care LESS accessible. I didn’t know THAT was the plan!...but then there
are going to be lots of “lovely” surprises in this boondoggle!

What about the people who receive medical insurance as part of their compensation package at WORK, or those that PAY for their own insurance coverage?

Insurance does not mean you get everything you want. You get what they agree to give you - and they disclose it upfront. If everyone got expensive care then insurance costs would rise even more dramatically. At least that isn’t disconnected with fiscal reality like the folks who want the government to pay no matter what the cost.

That is stunning — 2 years !

We haven’t even seen the depths of hell that
are coming, if this doesn’t get repealed, even
after all we’ve already seen.

“Thank you, fake president for making health care LESS accessible”

No matter what obama does, you can still go to the doctor if you are willing to pay for it yourself.

That’s where we are headed.

Wow, you have been pretty arrogant on this thread.

The average American has NOT ripped this system off, or profited from it and has PAYED hard earned money for YEARS.

But that is NOT good enough for you, is it?

No, just keep justifying the third party system, the ‘free’ health care for illegals, and the endless freebies to people who don’t work, NO, that had NOTHING to do with the system getting over loaded.

Never mind the coming currency crisis. Bah!!!

And if you believe YOU can see a doctor when ever you want, read this thread.

A poster said she could only see her doctor once every TWO YEARS.

#*&$(*&%(&#@)$!!!!!

arrogant, just plain arrogant

The grim reality is that no matter who’s in charge or what system is used, seniors like myself are going to have to accept the fact that that Medicare is unfunded to the tune of trillions of dollars.

It not gonna be pretty. Baraqqicare obviously accentuates the problem, but nobody can impose costs like that on younger generations.
