Today's AMPC features one of my favorite works of art every by Yves Tanguy, a beautiful cover of Radiohead's "Fake Plastic Trees" done on the ukulele, and Morpheus discussing the Matrix with The Dude.

You had me with Tanguy, lost me with “Radiohead is inarguably one of the greatest bands of all time.”
Radiohead is inarguably massively overrated. I don’t know why in heck I was watching, given it was oneof the worst pop-”culture” lists ever, but VH1’s recent 100 Greatest Artists (whatever that means; didn’t see Michelangelo on the list) placed Radiohead above Aerosmith (among many, many others), for pete’s sake. That’s simply ridiculous.
They are trendy and hip and have the right ‘tude and politics. It’s not that they’re untalented. I have listened to most of their albums but after awhile you realize they have very little that is new in their work. You can hear their influences, from Krautrock to Floyd and so on, but after awhile I have to turn off their albums, they just drone on with that listless angsty stuff that’s just too irritating.
I don’t think they’ll be much listened to in the future. There’s just not enough weight in their stuff.
I agree. I really like Radiohead, however sometimes Thom Yorke’s voice gets irritating and whiney, especially at the end of a long day.
I’m not trying to say they suck or are untalented, it’s just that they seem to keep hitting the same area repeatedly. His voice really does grate. On Kid A, his voice plus those electronics, gets to be too much to take, like listening to a mosquito stuck inside a room full of computers.
To each his own, I suppose. That is not only my own opinion, but a very widespread one.
Good thing I don't rely on widespread opinions then, or I'd be listening to lady Gaga.
