Our friend Pat Hickey has caught wind of some potentially interesting news on Chicago's soon to be roiling Mayoral election now that Richard "King" Daley has decided he no longer wants the big seat. Conservative publisher R. Emmett Tyrell, Jr. has reportedly said he might be interested in taking a run at City Hall.
Pat reports that through the grapevine he heard of Tyrell's possible campaign:
R. Emmett Tyrrell, the founder of The American Spectator is interested in running for Mayor of Chicago. Bob Tyrrell, like Governor Pat Quinn, is a proud Alumnus of Fenwick High School. It sure would be interesting to see a man of high education and one so well spoken for the conservative cause throw his hat into the right, wouldn't it?
For those of you who don't know Emmett from Adam, he is the founder of the conservative magazine The American Spectator...

Tyrell against Rahm... that would be SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!
Are you too young to remember a guy by the name of Marion Berry?
It would be interesting, but conservatives face a nearly impossible task of actually winning political races in cities. I hope he does run, and the more leftist candidates that do run, the better the chances will be for him to win. He needs to be the sole conservative candidate running against a lot of leftist candidates for him to have a serious shot of winning this race.
His Great Grandfather was a business partner of my Great Grandfather. They both had enormous numbers of "knowledge scratches" they obtained while working their way out of the hills.
Emmett would be a good choice to rebuild Chicago into a modern society and place to live.
Really, Marion Barry is still one of those guys you'd still like to pal around with at the sports bar, or on a cruise.
No, no. I should have been more specific. I meant the worst one in Chicago (which was Mayor Daley the younger).
I agree. It is an uphill battle for sure. But it would be an interesting one.
Tyrell is a proficient with the English language.
When I grow up, I want to communicate like him.
