You see, this is how you make headlines and draw attention to yourself if your John Hinderaker, the Frick of Frick and Frack over at Powerline. He entitled his post -- "The Mark Levin Controversy." http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2010/09/027219.php I'd say Dan Riehl hit a nerve when he exposed Paul Mirengoff's half-truth as a complete fraud. Mirengoff claimed that I had told a half-truth when I said that he had supported the Harriet Miers nomination. He said that he had changed his position. But Dan Riehl, who dug into it for about 3 minutes, found that Mirengoff actually changed his position the day before Miers withdrew her nomination, after having defended the nomination for nearly a month. The point is that Mirengoff argued for Miers up until the last day. By the time Mirengoff switched positions the issue was resolved.
Of course, Hinderaker is well aware of this. He jumped in with both feet in his mouth. Hinderaker viciously and condescending attacked George Will as washed up. Will dared to write a comprehensive rejection of the Miers nomination, who, of course, Mirengoff was supporting before he was opposing. ...

Painful - I respect them both so much.
A pointless and small-minded feud that diminishes both men IMHO.
It seems Levin enters into fueds too easily. A guy as smart as he is should have, somewhere along the line, found some time to peruse some Dale Carnegie. It may have helped him understand the futility of ventures like this, as well as helped hem understand that going wild on callers he disagrees with makes his show less interesting than it could be if he let them have their say.
I like Levin but I can’t figure out why this is getting under his skin so much. There’s nothing to be gained from this public feud.
Hinderaker is smart and conservative and on our side.
Levin should calm down. I know - calm isn’t exactly his style!
I like Mark also, but he almost lost me a while back with his unrelenting snark against Glenn Beck. This seems to be more of the same.
Your John Hinderaker? My John's doing okay how's your John?
Good point. I hadn’t made the connection, but this is like his disdain for Beck.
There is a strain of, I don’t know, self-pitying with Levin, or persecution complex or something.
When Rush’s promos talk about how great he is (”half my brain tied behind my back” etc.) it sounds like he’s just having fun and kidding around. Maybe Levin really believes his promos.
Levin has Jumped the Snark.
I don’t know what’s up with Levin. He’s gone to full-war mode against anybody who questions what he is saying, even when it’s all wrong.
Meringroff, Hindraker, Patterico? childish name-calling? Refusal to admit clear factual errors, and ridiculing people who point them out?
This isn’t the Mark Levin that wrote the seminal book on the Supreme Court. It’s more like the Mark Levin Radio persona who is brash, rude, arrogant, and flippant. It’s bad to see that persona bleeding into his real life.
One thing I’ve always respected about Rush is his desire to correct his own mistakes, to apologize publicly and quickly when he’s shown he was wrong about something.
Not seeing that here with Levin. Instead, seeing a guy who thinks because he has a radio show he’s above having to worry about little things like the facts.
You may use my Levin PING list any time, Tim. It’s on my FR page.
Thank you.
