FreedomWorks Says Thanks But No Thanks To Christine O'Donnell

Leaders of the influential FreedomWorks group -- one the largest and most powerful tea party forces in the country -- publicly distanced themselves from the latest tea party political star, Delaware Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell, at a breakfast with reporters this morning.

"We stay out of that race because we're not convinced O'Donnell can win," FreedomWorks president and CEO Matt Kibbe said at the Christian Science Monitor-sponsored event.

FreedomWorks chair Dick Armey shared the ambivalence toward O'Donnell, who's sparked a kind of GOP breakdown with her fast-rising candidacy against party stalwart Mike Castle, who most view as a shoo-in for Vice President Biden's old Senate seat should he win the nomination. Presented with polling data showing likely Democratic nominee Chris Coons beating O'Donnell in a general election, Armey was asked "if it's better for Republicans to lose with a tea party-backed candidate than to win with a mainstream Republican candidate."

So let me get this straight. This Tea Party front for Armey won’t endorse a candidate who upholds the principles they, theoretically, espouse because they’re not sure she can win.Oh yeah, that’s an outfit to suport. What next, an endosement of Pelosi?

Fat Dick Armey just let his motives out for hijacking the Tea Party. He is an inside the beltway hack looking to regain power instead of cleaning the system. If these wizards were correct about O’Donnell, she would be trailing Castle right now.

REAL conservatives don’t play the ‘bandwagon game’, Dick. Let the co-opting of the Tea Party’ movement roll on...

Somehow the TP has to distance themselves from freedom works and Dick Armey. He is the surest way to discredit and destroy the movement.

There are no guarantees in life, so do what is right, and work for the best. Not doing the right thing because it might fail is exactly the wimpy politics that got us where we are now.

I wish these national commentators would stay out of analyzing the DE race. Every down-ballot Republican, including many conservatives, wants Castle at the top of the ticket, not this idiot Christine O’Donnell, who I guarantee will be a disaster in November.

We have an excellent shot at capturing the State Treasurer’s office with a solid conservative (Colin Bonini) plus many legislative seats in both chambers if Castle is at the top of the ticket — because Caslte guarantees crossover appeal.

I am in Delaware, and O’Donnell spells disaster in November.

For God’s sakes would people wake up. This is a choice between someone who agrees with us 60-70% of the time and will vote for Mitch McConnell to be majority leader (Castle) vs someone who will never agree with conservatives on any issue (Chris Coons) and will support Harry Reid or Chuck Schumer to be majority leader.

ANY DELAWARE Republican who votes for O’Donnell is giving a vote to Harry Reid.

I don’t have any respect for Castle, but this Senate race is a special election for a seat that will be filled on Nov 3. Do you really want Coons to be sitting in it before the cavalry arrives in January, opening the door for cap’n tax, card check and whatever else they can ram home? Castle said he will be a vote to block any lame duck legislation (for what that’s worth), but Coons will be a rubber stamp for Harry Reid.

I’m ok with gambling in NV or AK because I think we can safely upgrade those seats, but do you want to risk your fragile filibuster-proof minority for 2-3 months with a marxist in the WH willing to sign anything that democrats can send to his desk?

There fixed it for you. Look at the voting record. Castle is a Jefford in wating. Wasting time and energy electing this traitor so he can sell us out in Jan 2011 like Jeffords did in 2001 is idiotic.
