White House Says Republicans Will Shut Down Gov't. . . . America Yawns
The Voice of Reason ^ | September 12, 2010 | Texas Peartree

he Obama White House posted a telling article on their website Friday, unmasking a devilish plan by the Republicans to shut down the government. Oh no! What will happen if our elected representatives and unelected pencil-pushers can no longer spend our money on such necessitates as sending imams as goodwill ambassadors to the Middle East, funding suicidal bank bailouts or economically ill-conceived automotive industry schemes like cash-for-clunkers?

I worked on Capitol Hill during the last shutdown. Everyone got paid, often for not working. I worked. That is what conservatives do. Social Security checks were still mailed out on schedule. The media, as willing fear mongers for the Clinton Administration, blamed Speaker Newt Gingrich and the Republicans panicked. What if our National Parks remained closed until further notice? Oh my!

Would that same panic happen now if the Democrats were to manipulate another government shutdown? Would there be media-induced panic leading to Republicans caving on sensible spending modifications? Maybe not. The American people have seen a government out of control since the shutdown of 1996. That spending has accelerated in the past 20 months of the Obama Administration with budget deficits ballooning and higher taxes or devalued currency the only likely outcomes. With government making such a disaster of things, might more Americans shrug off a government shutdown this time around? What if we used the shutdown to tackle long-term issues like pension reform or corrupt government unions?

As conservatives, there is very little we expect or trust or want from our government. At heart, we want safety from internal foes (criminals) and external foes (foreign armies). Beyond that, I could not care less if the Department of Agriculture is able to subsidize farmers, if the Department of Justice is able enforce...

The Government - especially the executive branch - needs to be shut down. All of the duplicate services and obsolete bureaus and offices need to be eliminated. The Unconstitutional czars need to be de-funded.

Shut it down for a while...we could use the rest.

Sounds like “the White House” is suffering from yet another phobia. That joint is going to need one hell of a fumigation before the next president moves in.

I really think the Dems are shooting themselves in the cloven-hooves every time they ‘warn’ people what will happen if Repubs are elected. Seventy-plus percent of the public has indicated that it feels that the gov is heading in the wrong direction and then Obama and his piglets go on TV and warn us that if Repubs are elected, Dems won’t be able to keep heading in the wrong direction. LOVE IT.

a devilish plan by the Republicans to shut down the government.

Only if you follow Satan. To everyone else, It's a blessing.

Please, let the beast be shut down. Have mercy on the tax slaves.
Amen.

Is Obama hoping for a fat girl wearing a thong to bring him some pizza?

Most people want the government to come to a stop.

If the GOP actually pull it off, there would be a national holiday created to celebrate it.

the white house is turning out to be an asset. after the monstrosities that ReBamaLosi has inflicted on the country, I would think people would be relieved if gov't shut down.

they would get into much less trouble that way . . .

I remember the last one well, when Clinton did it. That’s where we learned of the terms “nonessential employees and services.

Anything that falls into this category needs immediate defunding or repeal.

How do you find out who and what are “nonessential”?

Shut ‘er down.
