Palin:Koran Burning Is Insensitive, Unnecessary; Pastor Jones, Please Stand Down
Facebook ^ | 9/8/10 | Sarah Palin

Posted on 09/08/2010 2:42:45 PM PDT by GQuagmire

Book burning is antithetical to American ideals. People have a constitutional right to burn a Koran if they want to, but doing so is insensitive and an unnecessary provocation – much like building a mosque at Ground Zero.

Tell me, pissant.

Why do you support the act of buring Korans at this church?

Who gets to determine what’s stupid? You? Coulter? No. Do you think if a mosque in Iran got together a bunch of Bibles and decided to have a bonfire, shoot in the air and shout that the world community would be this hysterical? That they’d come and have meetings with a non-muslim president. That they’d worry about our reaction. Oh, h*ll no. Ganging up on this guy just makes us looks like nuetered wimps.

...But we need to pick the battles wisely....

I'm sorry, I did not know we were picking a battle. I thought another belief system picked a battle with us nine years ago. Thank you for correcting me. I wish I could be part of the "we need to pick the battles wisely" crowd like you but I am just an American guy who was raised to fight back when when punched. Now I just like to flip off people like you because you can act 'Wisely'. You wouldn't know wisdom if it bit you in the butt, but feel free to speak "Wisely" while leaving it to others to insure your right to speak. Good day to you.

Maybe Mrs Palin should be asked if a Cordoba(Victory) mosque at Ground Zero is, or is not, a provocation.

What you posted was what a dhimmi would say.

She is wrong, if we give in to their demands, terrorism has won.

Sorry, Sarge. I am no back-bencher, and if fighting is required, I will fight. But this particular act does nothing to fight evil. The pastor would be more effective doing a series of sermons on what Islam is all about - teaching people about the evil, not pulling a media stunt.

I am appalled at the number of people who presume that if you object to a stunt like this because it is ultimately counter-productive, both politically and spiritually, you are somehow some pacifistic liberal...

Sarah doesn't know enough about Christian tradition or Islam to make any sort of statement on this matter ~ which is probably why she hired on a wordsmith to say the politically correct but otherwise neutral statement above.

Now, let's get on to another matter entirely ~ the question of whether or not burning Korans is really insensitive and an unnecessary provocation ~ first off, the Saudi Arabians burn hundreds of Korans every day. That's because they were not authorized issuance by the religious authorities in Saudi Arabia but were brought in by Moslems on Haj. They have their standards and a Koran that doesn't meet it is just fodder for the fire.

My understanding is these were English language Korans ~ considered as little different than poop by the Saudis ~ so no one cares.

Something that really was an insensitive and unnecessary provocation was Salmon Rushdie's portrayal of Mohammad's wives as whores.

To start with the women were innocent members of a society so barbaric that Islamic rules that counted their testimony as only half the worth of a man's were actually IMPROVEMENTS of their condition. For all practical purposes they were Mohammad's property ~ not really wives ~ and they'd been assigned to him mostly because he had an obligation to support the indigent ~ and this is how AFDC was handled in those days ~ the women were forced into marriage with wealthy men who then had their way with them.

Further, the women really had nothing to do with the religious practices. You ever go to a mosque the women go upstairs to the mezzanine!

Rushdie's attack on the women was uncalled for and about as barbaric as the Islam he was assailing.

You want to be a champion for true feminism you protect women ~ you don't call them whores.

Exactly. The book of Satan being burned means diddly to me. As if his followers could possibly hate us anymore than they do now.

Who claimed they are peaceful?

That is moot to the discussion of whether this is a stupid and/or mean act that shouldn't be done.

It is stupid, and it is mean. If it were being done to my Holy Book or flag, I would be outraged and offended, even though I would not suicide bomb them for doing it.

Their actions would still be mean and stupid, as are Pastor Jones’ actions.

I was just starting to warm up a little toward her. She blew it.

I always knew her desire to chime in on all things would end up her undoing.

And here it is.

How about this?

Don’t build the Victory Murder Mosque at Ground Zero and that preacher won’t burn the Korans?

I don’t. But I also couldn’t care less what a church in florida wants to do to commemorate 9/11. It’s their business.

LOL. I just cut and pasted my earlier post to someone else to you.

We had the very same idea. Too bad we’re not in charge, eh?

LOL.

It simply comes across as acquiescing to evil. Which imho is never an option for a Christian. Ever. Even if others are put in harms way.

I was speaking with a guy who told me that if anyone dared to set fire to a Koran in his presence, he'd save it from the flames by urinating on it.

I think he was serious.

You’re a liar. Your previous posts show you care very much (though this probably has to do more with Palin).

If you don’t support the act, then why are you here attacking everyone for questioning it?
