How's that Iranian outreach working out Barry?

The Iranian government is paying a bounty to the Taliban in Afghanistan for each dead American.

MSNBC reports:

"Iran is paying Taliban fighters $1,000 for each U.S. soldier they kill in Afghanistan, according to a report in a British newspaper.

The Sunday Times described how a man it said was a 'Taliban treasurer' had gone to collect $18,000 from an Iranian firm in Kabul, a reward it said was for an attack in July which killed several Afghan government troops and destroyed an American armored vehicle.

The treasurer left with the cash hidden in a sack of flour, the newspaper said, and then gave it to Taliban fighters in the province of Wardak. In the past six months, the treasurer claimed to have collected more than $77,000 from the company.

The Sunday Times said its investigation had found that at least five Kabul-based Iranian companies were secretly passing funds to the Taliban.

The newspaper's correspondent, Miles Amoore, said he met and interviewed the treasurer, who he said had been an illiterate farmer who was taught to read and write, plus basic accountancy, by the Taliban last winter.

'We don't care who we get money from,' the treasurer was quoted as saying. He described the relationship with Iran as a 'marriage of convenience.' Iran is a predominantly Shiite country, while the Taliban is dominated by Sunni Muslims.

'Iran will never stop funding us because Americans are dangerous for them as well. I think the hatred is the same from both us and Iran. The money we get is not dirty. It is for jihad,' the treasurer told Amoore."

Gee...just think how bad it would have been if our fearless leader hadn't groveled at the mullah's feet, begging them to like us?

I’d love to see Obama busted for his fraud and treason and locked up in a federal pen!

The President does not hate America, stop with all that nonsense. He just has a radical Agenda shaped by his years of training, education and spiritual guidance like Rev. Wright, that’s all. Don’t defame the President, he means well, he’s just approaching the Presidency from an angle never tried. He’s still in shock that the American people were suckers enough to give him a chance.

The Republican nominee needs to really hammer home this king of thing, and remind people how he swore up and down his new way would bring the world to us. In fact, the world respected Bush, and his manner was precisely the posture that makes our enemies fear us.

Obama’s position is that of a small child, who thinks “If I’m nice to him he’ll be nice to me,” and gives the school bully his lunch money...which only makes the bully think you’re an easy mark, and a perfect target.

With respect, I think he is like Chris Matthews and Hillary Clinton--Obama indeed does hate what America IS, and he loves what he thinks it COULD be...under his guidance.

He just has a radical Agenda shaped by his years of training, education and spiritual guidance like Rev. Wright, that’s all. Don’t defame the President, he means well, he’s just approaching the Presidency from an angle never tried. He’s still in shock that the American people were suckers enough to give him a chance.

Excuse me if I'm misreading your post--you may be being funny here and I'm just taking it seriously. But I don't think he means well if by that you mean he wants to help this country. He doesn't; he wants to tear down its financial/political structure and rebuild it in a way never intended by its founders, or those who followed them, as lately as the 20th century. Starting in the early part of the century, the academic world from which he comes became the largest and last bastion of a kind of thinking that is hostile to this country as it stands.

I think he loves this country because it is POTENTIALLY great, but it isn't the same as simply saying one loves his/her country. And no, he doesn't mean well--just the opposite. Meaning well would indicate he hopes to save a damaged system; he wants to kill that system, and start over.

All the talented and educated policy-makers haven't figured out one of the oldest concepts in human history and it is puzzeling why not. This old adage is the main problem and misunderstanding in the Middle East. Israel lives in a neighborhood of bullies and the only way of preventing all of them from ganging up on you at once is by being tough and retaliating DISPROPORTIONALLY. This is what knowbody seems to understand. Israel is too small to just react - she must react in such a way that the Arabs say, “Wow, what a “Majnoon” or nutcase. THAT DISPROPORTIONATE RETALIATION concept is something she (and the US) must do when attacked. America knows this and did this in WWII.

I am writing this with tongue in cheek. I am being sarcastic so please do not take offense. I think Barry is the worst thing that has happened to this country since Jimmuh Cartuh and probably worse. Get my points?

I’m sure that our military leaders have been in serious consultations with their lawyers to see what they can do about this unacceptable situation.
As long as the Iranians don’t shoot at troops and keep plenty of women and children around they will be safe.

Maybe we can take it to the UN.

DISPROPORTIONATE RETALIATION concept is something she (and the US) must do when attacked.

It is from the safety of America that so many whine about "overkill" such as the "Highway of Death," and who then bitch and moan because we didn't go into Baghdad the first time. How quickly they forget their own short-sightedness.

When defending our invasion of Iraq back in the day, I got plenty of libs angry here in Boston by saying, "Bush knew that by attacking Afghanistan, he solved a tiny problem, while the bulk of Al Qaeda say back laughing, 'Can't catch me!' Bush looked at this crowd of people who were comfortable smiling and chuckling because he didn't have the goods on them...and he walked up to the nearest one and kicked him in the balls. While the others whined 'But he wasn't behind 9'11!' Bush said "OK, who's next?'

That often stopped them short. They understood what I was saying, but they couldn't get it into their heads that if we lost 3000 people, why, all we had the right to was making them lose 3000 people, and then everything goes back to the way it was, with some stern warnings and threats of imprisonment.

I've been tossing around the term "existential threat" a lot lately, and those same types of people are bitching about Israel yet again (including one liberal Israeli I know, who, coincidentally, hasn't served his required military training time, yet who wants to run for office, which he can't until he does his time). They don't seem to grasp that next time, there won't be any Israelis around to get their "proprtional justice" if they defend themselves with this mythical precision that liberals seem to think is the only justified retaliation.

That does, of course, violate the international laws of warfare. The Hague convention, isn’t it, that bans bounties for dead enemies?
