Nashville, TN -- Miranda Lambert says the rise in women in country music is long overdue. She says it's "definitely something that's been needing to happen for a long time." She says the trend toward women has been "turning slowly" -- but these days, women are "being really strong right now." To prove her point, all Lambert has to do is look in the mirror. She has picked up nine nods for this year's CMA Awards -- just one shy of Alan Jackson's record set in 2002. The only other artist to get nine or more nominations in one year is Merle Haggard.
The women of country music are great. There are a few lefty women but for the most part most are God fearing conservatives. And they can sing better than their pop-tart counterparts.
Country music is about things that Americans can relate to. Working, Drinking and love.

Enjoyed it!
I used to be a country music fan, but their music has left me now.
Thanks for that Patsy Cline utube. That was country. There isnt a woman out there who can compare.
I couldn’t even understand the words this woman was singing she mashed them up so much. She is better looking than Patsy, but she couldn’t hold the light for Patsy to run by.
So, why all these photos & anecdotes about young women in country music?
The headline said that the story was about young men from Scotland!
“Lady” = one proper female
“Lady’s” = belonging to one proper female
“Ladies” = more than one proper female
“Ladies’ “ = belonging to many proper females
“Lad” = young man
“Ladie/laddie” = Scots term for young man
“Ladie’s” = belonging to young man, probably Scottish
(/sarc)
You’re absolutely right.
Today’s country music is largely pathetic.
Gone are the days of Don Williams and Jim Reeves.
I do like George Strait, I must admit.
Have you listened to Zac Brown Band?

I love this song. But I have to worry about the overall “chickification” of all aspects of American society. Universities now have a majority of women. Look at television and movies: many, many are written by women, produced by women. You can say this is the “empowerment” of women, but you can also say it’s causing an overall feminization of American society that, in parts, explains economic decline and military ambiguity.
:-) Your answer about “ladie’s” was so much better than the one I had in mind. So glad I skimmed the responses first.
Ladies just now rising to prominence in country music?
Loretta Lynn and Reba McIntyre would like a word with you Ms. Lambert.

I had a professor in college who warned of this very thing in 1966. I agree with you, and I am a woman.
Everytime I hear that song I immediately stop what I'm doing just to listen to it fully.
In my humble view, Patsy Cline is the greatest female vocalist of all time. Kinda like the "Frank Sinatra" of female country music.........
Easy going songs with no noticeable straining of the voice.
Miranda Lambert is from Lindale, TX, where I graduated from High School (in 1977). My folks still live on Hoard Road.
I’m a singer/songwriter, also. My sister just sent me pictures of Lindale, so I can use them for a video of a song I wrote called “Small Town in Texas”. My sister told me there’s a Miranda Lambert store in Lindale. I’m wondering, if I can make good in music at my age, will I get my own store? LOL! One can dream.
I’m proud that our small town in Texas produced such a talent.
She and Blake are just cool, so much like anyone you'd know in your community. Blake is funny as heck to boot.
