I never thought Id see the day when I would be singing the praises of a cartoonist that works for a liberal pack of idiots like the ones at MSNBC. Well, strike me down but today is the day. Political cartoonist Daryl Cagle crafted this fine piece of art that depicts the Mexican flag, specifically the taco chicken in the center, as being shot to pieces. This is, of course, to reflect the fact that the drug lords are shooting up the place down there.
What is truly ironic is that for once its not the American flag being desecrated and lampooned by a cartoonist of considerable fame. For once, its not an American flag being maliciously targeted while the American people are being expected to stand still and take it. For once, its not us.
The part that brings laughter to my belly is the uproar this cartoon is creating in Mexico, in both the editorial pages of the Mexican press, and the Mexican embassy. This letter, written by Ricardo Alday of the Mexican embassy, takes issue with the cartoon because it has brought a negative response from the people of Mexico. Negative response?
Mr. Alday, let me remind you of the negative response the people of the United States are having due to 14 million of your fellow Mexican countrymen flowing over the borders illegally and costing the American taxpayers billion$ every year to support these people. Let me remind you of the negative response from us because, unlike this cartoon, these 14 million people are breaking our laws by coming here. Let me remind you, Mr. Alday, of your countrys refusal to do anything about it.
People all across the world routinely make a mockery of the American flag by burning it in the streets of whatever third-world plot of sand they reside on. Maybe its time the people of our country start burning some of theirs.
And secondly, "taco chicken"?....you should be embarrassed to type something so stupid.
The “taco chicken” is an eagle, like the eagle on the Great Seal of the United States. What a cheap shot. And what is going on in Mexico is a tragedy regardless of illegal immigrants.
There’s a fine line between editorial comment and being a jerk. You crossed it.
US Cartoon of Mexican Flag Draws Ire
(Sept. 4) — An American cartoonist’s rendition of the Mexican flag is causing controversy south of the border, where Mexicans say it’s offensive to taint their national symbol with images of drug violence.
Political cartoonist Daryl Cagle’s drawing, which ran on the front page of several Mexican newspapers this week, shows what’s normally a regal-looking eagle at the center of Mexico’s flag riddled with bullets and bleeding. It’s a reference to the drug wars that have riled Mexico and left more than 28,000 people dead there in less than four years. [snip]

Saving the environment and the remaning species diversity of the planet is now your mindset. Nothing is more important than saving them. The Lions, Tigers, Giraffes, Elephants, Froggies, Turtles, Apes, Raccoons, Beetles, Ants, Sharks, Bears, and, of course, the Squirrels.
Oh, of course the squirrels.
Mexico has always been a hell-hole.
What would be better is having an obvious, smiling, proud, drug dealer in the middle with headless bodies surrounding him.
If you have a problem with people desecrating the US flag, you have no right to advocate desecrating those of other nations. Want respect? Give respect. And don’t go down to the level of those whom you criticize for their behavior...
I don’t think the cartoonist is mocking the flag. He is using it for what it is, a symbol of Mexico, to illustrate the violent state of affairs there that is killing their country.
Unfortunately the situation in Mexico is fueling illegal immigration. Mexico is collapsing and the Mexican people seem unwilling or unable to stop it.
Who cares? I don't. Mexicans jump our border and spit on our flag. Piss on the lot of them.
I’ve always been sensitive about the portrayal of ANY national flag, but that hit the target.
Remember, those guns, bullets and murderers were bought with AMERICAN money.
Not strictly. Besides, what is your point? Thugs in Mexico were not created by me or anyone I know.
American money buys all kinds of things in all corners of the world. It’s the global currency. Whats your point? I have had it to 10 feet above my head with punks who divert blame to Americans. It makes me freaking sick to my stomach.
Oh please. The US doesn’t HAVE any more money, we have paper printed with the OK of China. Must be China’s fault now. After that I wonder who else we can blame?... Couldn’t possibly blame Mexicans in Mexico could we?...
Respect?
Ya got upwards of 25 million people from Mexico that have and are entering our country illegally, trashing our laws, borders and sovereignty, while choking off our schools, jails, social services, health-care and hospitals, while causing death and harm to tens of thousands of legitimate Americans.
WTF do you mean respect?
Very well put.
