How Many Attended The Glenn Beck Rally?
Flopping Aces ^ | 08-29-10 | Nancy Morgan

Posted on 08/29/2010 10:32:42 AM PDT by Starman417

The question on the minds of millions of Americans this morning: How many people attended Glenn Beck's 'Restoring Honor' rally yesterday in our nations' capitol?

The answer to this question has ramifications far beyond mere crowd size. It is one of the few concrete indicators of the popularity and viability of the Tea Party and their message of traditional values, less government and a return to our Founders' vision of America.

The New York Times described the crowd merely as "enormous and impassioned." ABC was more specific, estimating the attendance at Beck's Restoring Honor Rally in the "hundreds of thousands." AP chimed in at "tens of thousands."

Whether the attendance was 300,000 or one million, (you decide) the huge crowd gathered to hear conservative commentator Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin and other notables, offered a compelling contrast to another rally being held across town held by Al Sharpton.

An estimated 3,000, most of whom were African-Americans, attended a rally/march hosted by Al Sharpton to commemorate the 47th anniversary of Martin Luther King's famous "I Have A Dream" speech. Sharpton railed against the Tea Party as he informed the crowd that MLK's dream "has not been achieved."

The fact that America has elected a black president didn't seem to faze Sharpton as he trotted out his familiar message of black oppression. Sharpton's solution? Support Obama's latest money grab, appealingly entitled a "jobs bill.' Yawn.

The question on my mind this morning was “Banana waffles, or ham and fresh asparagus omelet with Hollandaise sauce?” The pictures yesterday were worth 250,000 to 300,000 words. I ended up making the omelets. They were delish.

I believe the number of attendees was at least 500,000 but the fact that no one will give an accurate count makes me think it was larger.

By adding the Point-24 to your number assures me you made an Actual count. (smile)

Hahahahaha...I woke up this morning to a big decision and with several thoughts, but the most pressing was put to me by my grandson ... he slept over with us last night ... he loves that ... and we had to decide which flavor Popsicle to have before Grammy made breakfast. Pineapple Mango (which might sound terrible, but is actually pretty good) seemed most breakfast-y to us. They were delish, too.

Beck showed diagrams on TV last week of the mall, and the surrounding areas. If I understood him correctly, the mall and left-hand side is 500,000 to 600,000 people, so it appeared to me that it was definitely more than 600,000 people that were there.

Oh, and let me add here.

My ex was a general contractor and he heard somewhere that if you end your bid with a 3 that the purchaser would choose your bid as it appeared you had really penciled it out to the exact amount. We played with that for about a year and the results were so favorable that all our bids ended with a 3. It was fun.

Pineapple-Mango Popsicles sound awesome. Did you make them or do they sell them at the store?

Well we know how many were watching online (Ustream). That number was over 125,000 toward the end. C-SPAN viewership should be able to be calculated too. Let’s just say it generated A LOT of viewers...whether in person or via the media outlets.

And no matter who says what about the numbers, and no matter how the MSM tries to spin it, the politicians know what it means, Dems especially. People that are fired up enough to travel to Washington from across the country WILL show up to vote come November.

They really are. My wife buys them at Trader Joe’s, I think.

The mainstream media will probably (truthfully) note that more than a thousand people were there.

Exactly. The center portion would have been 200,000, the outer larger area would have been 300,000. And if you looked at the aerial pictures, there were more outside that.

I believe you are factoring in Sharpton’s numbers. LOL!

http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/08/28/parallel-rallies-by-beck-and-sharpton/?partner=rss&emc=rss

Two political foes – Glenn Beck and the Rev. Al Sharpton Jr. – are gathering hundreds of thousands of their supporters on the National Mall today for simultaneous rallies commemorating the anniversary of the March on Washington.

(snip)

Between the two events, hundreds of thousands of people could swarm the Mall. Local metro lines experienced significant delays well before the rally’s 10 a.m. start.

What connection does Al Sharpton have to the Reverend Martin Luther King, Junior, other than pigment? Mr. Sharpton was nine years old when Dr. King made his “I have a dream” speech. I don’t believe MLK would’ve participated in the Crown Heights Riot, the Freddie’s Fashion Mart incident, or the Tawana Brawley fraud.

Towards the end the ustream.tv count was over 130,000 concurrent viewers. That is stunning.
