Glenn Beck rally drew a crowd. But how big?
Politico ^ | August 28, 2010 | Scott Wong

How many people jammed the National Mall Saturday to take part in Glenn Beck's "Restoring Honor" rally?

Tens of thousands? Certainly. One hundred thousand? Perhaps. Half a million? No one can really say for sure.

Crowds packed the area around the Reflecting Pool, standing shoulder-to-shoulder under the canopy of trees, as they strained to see the pair of big-screen monitors near the Lincoln Memorial. Families huddled around the World War II Memorial fountain, dipping their feet in the water to stay cool under the August sun. And they laid out camping chairs and sun umbrellas, filling the large grassy area between the memorial and the Washington Monument.

Organizers pulled event permits for up to 300,000 people, and expected at least 100,000 to show up.

Beck said he had heard the crowd was between 300,000 and 500,000, "and if that's coming from the media, God only knows."

But the Associated Press said tens of thousands of people participated in the rally.

Interesting, how crowds are inflated for one group, and denigrated for another. Facebook @ 160,000. C-Span?
take a guess. rally? likely @ 9/12 at this point.

This is just the start, folks. Read “Democracy in America”
before you vote.

But for sure, cover the diffrence in the amount of trash that will be left behind compared to Obama.

Now, why didn’t Nanzi walk through the crowd with her giant gavel and cadre of dark skinned comrades to provoke a reaction?

I think the National Park Service doesn’t officially give crowd estimates anymore. After complaints that the crowd was undercounted at the Million Man March, decisions were made that it’s not worth it to publicize an official number of people attending events there.

Fear not, my friends!!! Today’s numbers whatever they were, were a sign of what the voter numbers will be against the Democrat Party and POTUS Barack Hussein Obama come Election day, November 2, 2010!!! The “drive by media” will not have to estimate the numbers that evening!!! And....today’s magnificent turnout is both a salute and tribute the Martin Luther King and Glenn Beck!!! As for Al Sharpton and his CBC/NAACP racist cohorts, their miserable number of folks who turned out for their race rant is not worth mentioning!!! The good and refreshing news is the overwhelming majority of American Blacks stayed away and are, hopefully beginning to get it realizing that they have been had, used and abused by the chosen one Barack Hussein Obama and the likes of Sharpton, the CBC and NAACP!!! Time for Black folks to shove Obama under the bus where he belongs!!!

That’s an excellent photo, but the caption is pretty comical:

“Tens of thousands of people have attended a rally at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC, which organisers say is aimed at staging a political tribute to traditional American values.”

It’s pretty obvious the crowd exceeded 100,000 and the only issue is how many hundreds of thousands.

why didn’t Nanzi walk through the crowd with her giant gavel and cadre of dark skinned comrades to provoke a reaction?

Because we have learned two important lessons.

(1) Don't react to the demagogues. If they want violence, just chant slogans. Don't give them the photo op.

(2) Video everything from multiple angles so that they can't make something up.

In fact, Politico does not WANTY to say. This left wing outfit simply wants to muddy the waters by denying the crowd size.

Early on the morning of Aug. 28, 1963, the National Mall in Washington, D.C., was empty apart from a few sightseers. But by midday, close to half a million people were massed peacefully among the monuments and museums for what became one of the most important events in the civil rights movement: the March on Washington.

Well, they could estimate Dr. King's crowd back in 1963 but they can't estimate Glenn Beck's crowd? Does anyone notice MLK's crowd ONLY goes half way up the reflecting pool while Glenn Beck's crowd went up all the way to the Washington Monument. If there were half a million at King's ralley then just from the picture alone there had to be a million at today's ralley.

I was there and when we left we could see crowds standing as far back as the Washington Monument.

I bet most were all local. All they had to do was walk down the street.

from the Licoln Memorial to the WW2 memorial is about 250K the side park holds 350K so it was easily over 600K, easy

The two sides of the reflecting pond holds 250,000 people, the side field of the pond holds another 200,000 people. There were people among the trees on both sides. I would say the crowd as 400,000 to 500,000.

Dream on. They never listened or took notice before and they wont now.

I only wish you were right, but this is about CONTROL for them and nothing else.

“it’s plain to see 300,000 is about the most it could have been.”

Not as much as 9/12 - but a really awesome turnout nonetheless, hey?

There were multitudes under the trees on the right.
