Crowd estimates, early reports from Beck's 'restoring honor' rally
Conservative Examiner ^ | 8/28/10 | Anthony G. Martin

In a demonstration of the overwhelming support of mainstream America for conservative principles, Glenn Beck's 'Restoring Honor' rally at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. is drawing 'hundreds of thousands,' according to McClatchy Newspapers.

Early reports indicate that so large is the crowd that attendees were having difficulty hearing the speakers. A quick scan of mainstream news outlets that have done actual estimates this morning indicates that attendance at this point is between 300,000 and 500,000 people.

And attendees are still arriving at the rally, which began some 90 minutes ago.

Newsbusters is live-streaming the event.

Michelle Malkin reports that as early as 7:30 AM there were already 100,00 peope gathered at the site.

Reporters on the ground, however, state that the claim of 500,000 attendees is grossly underestimated. A more accurate assessment of the crowd may well turn out to be between 500,000 and 1 million.

That photo is great. It will make it more difficult for the usual lies to prevail.

It is also a fact Beck is at Fox News able to refute them.

I noticed the very limited scope of the view of the crowds too. The truth is just not in the character of the left. I’m surprised C-SPAN even aired the rally at all.

It’s a technique of conveying a false message without actually lying. Even if ten million showed up it would clearly be “more than 1000” but most people take it as meaning that maybe eleven or twelve hundred showed up even though that is not said. I used to run a business repairing printing equipment and sometimes people would ask how much I estimated their bill would be before I had opened my toolkit. If I knew them well I would sometimes reply, “Less than a thousand dollars”. I still remember finishing one job and handing the man a bill for a hundred and fifty. He looked at it and said, “I thought you said it was going to be less than a thousand dollars”. What he meant was that he was expecting maybe nine hundred or so. I smiled at him and said, “Ain’t that less than a thousand?”

Tell someone that you made less than a million dollars last year and watch the reaction. I once told someone that and he flat out called me a liar to my face. I offered to bet him a hundred thousand that I could prove I made less than a million last year, he finally caught on but if I had offered to bet a hundred he probably would have taken the bet.

They never posted the coverage by name on their web site either.

c-span had no choice.

A crowd as large as if not LARGER than the MLK speech and they do not cover it? it would be credibility suicide.

Dear Media: the people in that photo are now on their way home...you will be hearing from them again the first Tuesday in November, and I don’t think you are going to like the results.

I was just looking at C-SPAN’s website to see when the rally might be re-broadcast and I found no mention on the schedule page. The front page had some drivel about Beck being the talking point word “controversial”. LOL. Yeah, that honor stuff is really controversial and extreme. Must be why MLK’s niece and grandson were there.

We surround them! November’s victories will be sweet. The 2012 election even more so. Imam Obama will be on the lecture and rubber chicken circuit starting Jan.20, 2013.

There are people PACKED underneath those tree and there are more in the area of the monument. It was so crowded there I would safely say over 1 million EASY!

True!
Hussein started to believe his own press long before he won the election and his ego has grown exponentially since he was inaugurated. No way he will EVER see the light unless the finger of God comes down and gives him a little “jab.”
And even then, I don’t know....

I wish someone would post pics of the national mall after the crowd today is gone and a pic of the national mall after the hussein inauguration.

I’m sure there will be a STARK contrast in the amount of trash left behind.

Honestly while the foto is great, I think it proves the million number is off.Looking at the left of the pic beyond the tree line the large foto shows distinct patches of gree. That would indicate a much larger amount of area per person than on either side of the reflecting pool. I think the original guesstimate of 300K to 500K is closer to the actual figure than 1 million.

Below is a link the the front page of the NY Times when the original Rally was held and Martin Luther King gave his "I Have a Dream Speech." A million in attendance is not necessary.

It’s nice to know there are so many authentic Christians out there. Not the Nancy Pelosi type fakers. Glenn has done our nation a great good deed.

As I work, I can listen to his radio show. On Friday a lady caller asked that since she could not be in DC, what specifically could she contribute in prayer for Glenn.

He asked that he be guided by God so he had the right words to say today, he also added on a light hearted note, that he not cry through the whole time he was speaking. Then he and his on air staff of 2 other funny guys, had a good laugh.

I hope to catch the entire rally on a C-SPAN repeat. I had to work all day and only saw Sarah introduce 3 war heros. How I wish I had today free to see the whole rally live.

Hey my Mom is 71, and her Mom is 92 and sharp as a tack!

Blessings on you and your Mom.

They never talk, but I wish I could be a fly on the wall to here what the service staff has to say about Barack and Michelle. My guess is she is an absolute Beeotch that would Hillary a run for her money and the rumors of what a nightmare she was...
