Palin’s conservative fans need to reassess her “victories”
Seeing Red AZ ^ | 2010-08-26

The Hill runs a report crediting Sarah Palin for her many Republic primary victories. Before conservatives take too much pleasure in such news, read how she is credited with helping sweep John McCain to victory. Palin traveled to Arizona and made numerous campaign appearances with McCain, bringing him the Tea Party creds he so desperately needed to undercut the fact that he is a nearly three-decades-long, left-leaning Washington insider.

That Palin chose to conveniently back McCain over conservative former U.S. Rep. J.D. Hayworth is a truth that should not soon be forgotten. Her help, McCain’s falsely running to the right, taking positions adverse to his established ones and $21 million dollars in attack ads did the trick.

Sarah Palin is all about expediency. She is no conservative.

Yes, I’ve been pinged to this twice now and I have posted my comment to the Sarah-hating-troll-boy.

Like she said, she told the whole county she wanted him to be POTUS, so of course she would be for him for the US Senate.

So will Palin be there for McCain when he inevitably returns to backing amnesty? Or cap-and-tax?

I think McCain overplayed that initial show of support. Palin will make him pay eventually...

Oh man, don't make my heart race like that. I swear, I got goose bumps reading that.

I think I'll drive around honking my truck horn all day, if Sarah throws McCain to the wolves down the road.

It would serve him right for having forced her to support his slimy ass, and disappoint so many of her supporters.

If Governor Palin had backstabbed Senator McCain after he selected her to be his running mate, you'd be using that as a cudgel to beat her up with.

Or she could have just stayed out of the race. Any number of excuses, e.g., "I believe that it is the place of the citizens of Arizona and not mine to decide on their candidate," would have worked and been completely acceptable.

Most of you are either supporters of other candidates

There are no officially declared candidates.

or have issues with women in powerful positions

Accusing me of being sexist, LOL!

That's rich.

Maybe I shouldn't have cut a check for $200 out of my savings to Michele Bachmann in the last election cycle.

BOO-HOO!

Arizona voters have voted. You know, those people who know him best.

Give Sarah ALL THE CREDIT, it matters not!

BUY A CLUE:

SHE TOLD EVERYONE IN AMERICA SHE WANTED HIM TO BE POTUS!

It only makes sense that she would want him to be Senator! (DUH)!

If I lived in AZ I would have voted for JD.

But how sad is it that AZ, home of Jan Brewer (McCain Supporter) couldn’t find a Joe Miller type to take on McCain.

I mean even in true blue NJ we got us a Chris Christie. If only conservatives in Arizona could have got off their asses and found a compelling candidate to take on Juan McDouche, they wouldn’t have to blame their ineptitude on Sarah.

considering the loonies he has voted for in the past.......

Resorting to personal attacks this early in the game.

Typical.

So where does this end?

Or does she, out of "loyalty," have to support him for whatever he wants?

If you consider calling the candidate you voted for a loony a personal attack, then you have thinner skin than I thought.

Hey, how much did you send in $$$ to Chuck "US black ops caused the Haiti earthquake" Baldwin?

You’re much too childish for grown-up politics.

So far your "grown-up politics" has gotten the U.S. in way over its head in debt (no, it's not just the Democrats that were spending like there was no tomorrow), entangled in the affairs and intrigues of foreign States, and entangled in the webs of a power-hungry central government.

So, I'll take the "childish" politics over the "grown-up" politics.

After all, a child, not a grown-up, was the one with enough guts to point out that the emperor had no clothes.

Nada, unless you count Monopoly money.

Now, pray tell, for whom did YOU vote? Since you are so eager to criticize others for merely voting against Obama and McCain in one fell swoop, you should have no trouble at all talking about your own voting record.

So - you’ve actually taken the time and diligence to find, bookmark, and catalog all of those sources of Sarah’s campaign efforts for McCain. You’ve got them all pre-formatted in a Word document, and ready to post at a moment’s notice.

After all that work, what point have you made? That Sarah Palin was true to her word, and actually supported a candidate whom she endorsed?

Gee...how dastardly of her.

If you’re attempting to make the point that Sarah’s not a conservative, I’m afraid you’ll have to do far, far better than what you’re serving up here. Far better. In fact, you can’t do it.

You’ll have to get Sarah to help you with that one. She’s not doing your cause any favors at present. She’s (gasp!) endorsing conservatives all over the country right now, and most of them are winning.

Rabs, you’d better get on the horn to her right away. She’s making you look like a complete fool on Free Republic!

“Arizonans just made a mistake.”

I voted for JD, but a lot of people I know voted for McCain, because they felt, and rightly so, that JD couldn’t win the seat if he was in the primary in November. They didn’t want McCain but they especially didn’t want a Democrat either.

As one writer put it:

“A Hayworth victory might have provided relief for Senate Democrats. Yes, it would have put one more Senate seat in play, but more importantly it would have conjured up a convincing national story about Republican intolerance toward immigrants, moderates, small puppies, you name it.”

I have myself heard Republican voters out here say JD is great but he won’t get elected. Their vote didn’t so much represent McCain but instead not allowing the door open for a Democrat.

and if you notice Palin’s picks were pretty much followed up on by the voters, and she supported McCain, even though it was before JD was a consideration. If it wasn’t for McCain we wouldn’t even know about her. Payback.

No, I'm not that motivated.

I actually had to use the FR search function to dig them up.

Michelle Bachmann is a back-bencher and will probably remain there. That’s not a lot of power.
