NJ Governor Christie to Obama "Are You Guys Mindless Drones?"

H/T Cubachi This is a great example of why videos of NJ Governor Chris Christie speaking are described as porn for conservatives, this guy says what the "common folk" are thinking. This time he goes after the Obama administration and federal bureaucracy.

After making a bid for hundreds of millions of dollars in federal education reform money, New Jersey fell three points short of receiving "Race to the Top" funding. The reason for falling shored was an error in one page the Christie administration's almost 2,000 page application. A question on the application asked for budget information comparing the 2008 and 2009 school years. However, the state submitted information comparing the current year to 2011.That mistake cost the state 4.8 points and the federal funding.

A real conservative governor and state would tell the feds to keep their money and their administrative tentacles away from their school system.

Ohio was a winner because they came up with a mentoring program for teachers. That, and Gov Strickland (D) is in a tough race for re-election, I bet.

Now I see school districts that expect to get some of the Ohio money telling their taxpayers they still need to pass tax renewal and replacement levies because they are severely limited in how they can use these “Race” funds. All federal money comes with strings attached.

The problem are the 1000's of mindless middle-level drones who make a living for doing NOTHING. Just like in FL, where CPS lost over a thousand children. What the he**? All of these people need to fired and forced to be reapply for their jobs.

Yes and no.

Remember where the money originally came from.

Christie's just trying to get back what's already been stolen.

I really liked Christie until he came out for Imam Obama’s Victory Mosque.

Christie’s hero Springsteen supports the mosque and Obama. He is a a huge Springsteen fan. Bon Jovi is an Imam O arse kisser.

Maybe Christie shoulkd wisen up and listen to Southside Johnny who I think is a Repub.

As a conservative living in New Jersey, I am GLAD we lost the Federal Government take over of our curriculum and educational standards. This is an end run around State Rights on education.

Christie was trying to make up the shortfall on his cuts through getting the federal money. This was a bad move. Do you really want OBAMA educational standards and curriculum determined at the FEDERAL LEVEL by an Education Czar? I don't. Here's the e-mail I received on this. Trenton, NJ - Department of Education Commissioner Bret Schundler today issued the following statement in response to the selection of the final Race to the Top Phase 2 recipients: NJDOE News For More Information Contact the Public Information Office: Beth Auerswald Richard Vespucci Alan Guenther, Director 609-292-1126 For Immediate Release: Tuesday, August 24, 2010 ----------------------------------------------------------- Statement on the Selection of ‘Race to the Top’ Phase 2 Recipients Trenton, NJ – Department of Education Commissioner Bret Schundler today issued the following statement in response to the selection of the final Race to the Top Phase 2 recipients: “While I am disappointed that New Jersey, having been chosen as a finalist, was not ultimately selected as a recipient at the end of this highly competitive process, our commitment to bold, meaningful reform remains firm. This process has allowed us to move quickly and vigorously to craft much-needed education reforms, while securing the unanimous, bipartisan support of the legislature for the plan embodied in our Race to the Top application. This fall we must act swiftly to implement the education reforms the people of New Jersey deserve and demand to transform schools in our state that are failing, improve the quality of education for every New Jersey child and challenge the status quo wherever it is necessary.” If you want to sign up for these kinds of updates, send an e-mail to: Faith Sarafin sent this update out faith.sarafin@doe.state.nj.us

NJ has been getting $0.60-$0.65 in federal services for every $1 in federal taxes it gets for decades now.

The federal government owes us billions in missing funds.

Not every state can be like MS or ND or NM and get back $2 for every tax dollar it pays.

It's all part of leveling the educational playing field. NJ subsidizes hell zone in New Jersey and crap states where they don't want to pay for it.

Nope. You're both wrong.

I'm glad to have a governor who realizes that the federal government is fleecing his constituents every April 15 and who is doing something to get our money back.

If Christie was really SMART, he'd make school vouchers the rule. Then the $$$$ could follow the student and crap districts would be out of business. Heck Private and parochial schools do with significantly less and turn out smarter kids. Home schools clean up but get to fund the dumbing down through taxes. I believe homeschoolers and private and parochial school parents should be exempt from school taxes. Retired people should also be exempt as well as single people with out kids.

Shhhhh ... you’re RIGHT!

Not at all. Think things through.

NJ schools and curricula are already far more liberal than the national average. Moving to federal standards would actually be an improvement compared to the nonsense that goes on in this state.

The governor could get the refund from the feds and simultaneously make the school system less crazy and more accountable.

Getting our money back from the thieves in Washington while continuing the war on the teacher's unions is the essence of smart conservatism - especially if he can find ways to use the funding to separate the townships from the unions. He's been very creative in this regard so far.

It's like the Governor is playing chess, the union is playing checkers and you guys are playing tic tac toe.

If Christie was really SMART, he'd make school vouchers the rule.

He was elected governor of New Jersey, not King of New Jersey.

He has a majority Democrat legislature to deal with for the time being. He can't rule by decree.

I send all my kids to parochial schools and am still paying through the nose in property taxes to send other people's kids to school.

There needs to be a voucher program in NJ, but there is no fully-implemented voucher program in any US state no matter how much more conservative than NJ.

And whenever one is implemented, it comes up against well-funded court challenges.

Vouchers will not magically appear.

Does anyone see the insanity of having states produce 1,000 page applications begging to have the great and mighty Obama administration give them a few dollars?

How many millions were wasted just in the red tape and bureaucracy of the application process and review for 50 states?

Get rid of the Department of No Education and split the money between the states. We have saved millions while still getting more dollars to the states to figure out the best way to educate their children.

BS. I don’t want the feds involved in k-12 education period.

Just because you can be bought doesn’t change the fact that a real conservative doesn’t need the feds in education.
