Warning: China in 2010 looking more like Japan in the 1930s and Obama’s bowing won’t protect us

China is gradually beginning to resemble Japan of the 1930s and the thought of having to stop them with Barack Obama as our Commander in Chief is not reassuring.

The Peoples Republic of China (PRC) has made the headlines recently by aggressively deploying missiles capable of striking American forces in the Western Pacific. China’s goal is to deny us access to aid Taiwan when the People’s Army decides to invade the island.

China’s Modernization

During the last 30 years China has greatly accelerated her economic and military growth. The Communist country’s economic advancement has greatly improved the living standard of its citizens and China’s international profile.

This economic growth is fueling China’s drive to modernize her military from a defensive force to a regional powerhouse and eventually a global military power.

After decades of maintaining a largely defensive military the Chinese are working on offensive capabilities by acquiring amphibious assault vehicles and a former Soviet aircraft carrier from Ukraine.

China understands that it cannot develop modern weapons without outside help; they are more than willing to purchase foreign weapons and expert help to gain the science and technology edge necessary to achieve her goals.

The PRC has developed an aggressive spy structure, and its spy and computer espionage programs gather information it cannot otherwise buy. The Chinese believe becoming a modern military power will provide the leverage needed to resolve diplomatic disputes to their advantage, and of course they are right.

Taiwan

China’s drive toward modernizing her military is geared towards a possible invasion of Taiwan. As an economic rival Taiwan has always been a threat, but given the condition of the world’s economy, it is more worrisome than ever.

The Chinese want to reign in Taiwan by either peaceful means or by military action, but..

As long as 90% of the products we consume are made in China, I can’t see them biting the hands that feeds them regardless of political differences.

And another bad sign... Russia is beginning to look like Germany Circa 1933... Except with that Stalinist flair...

My casual observations lead me to believe China wants Taiwan, a little Japanese blood, Japanese island territory, and Japanese grovelling and degradation, and Europe’s peer-respect.

If the apostate Mooslime dictator's disastrous policies continue, America won't be able to feed the ravenous Chinese monster for very much longer.

political differences

For you and me it's on "political" differences. For you and me the most important part of life is the now or the soon to be now. For the megalomaniacal politician it's about legacy. Like Hitler who dreamed of a reich that would last 1,000 years. For the Chinese political elite it is their birthright, their destiny to dominate the world. The short term sacrifice of this generation or the next or the one after that to achieve this end is not just acceptable but actually to be expected. We will never successfully compete in the very long run, against these ideologically driven and despoticaly led nations until we stop assuming they are driven by similar motivations as are we. Hitler's biggest error was his impatience. He wanted it done in his lifetime. The Chinese and the Islamacists are very patient. They've been on this pathway for generations and will continue.

That’s why they call it the Long March.

I’m interested to see how long it wil take them to make a play for Eastern Russia.

Russia is more like Italy in 1933. Puts on a good show but there is not substance there. Russia has SSBNs where the missiles have never worked in testing. They have good aircraft, but built in small production runs. They have some oil money in the bank, but their economy is still a basket case.

The Russians main danger is the people they sell weapons to. The Muslim nations are dangerous because they are impulsive and unpredictable. China is infinitely more dangerous because they are patient and calculating.

They will probably just buy it. They certainly have the cash. Kind of like how we picked up the Louisiana Purchase. The French knew they couldn't hold the territory against the Brits, so they sold it to a friendly power. If Russia starts to think that they can't hold Eastern Russia against the Muslims, they might sell it to China.

Actually, that was almost exactly the accepted wisdom about Japan, at the time.

I highly disagree with that assessment. Again, I believe that Russia is like Germany circa 1933. Russia WILL be able to reassemble the USSR, and will be more dangerous than ever.

Muslims have more internal disputes than anyone. Look at Iraq and Afghanistan for example. They can’t even get themselves to agree to anything.

Hold on now. Ya mean China is more a threat to us than Iran’s dreams and Taliban’s improvised devices? But we do have free trade with China, doesn’t that count for something?

"China is gradually beginning to resemble Japan of the 1930s and the thought of having to stop them with Barack Obama as our Commander in Chief is not reassuring."

As with Russia, Iran, etc, China has to be thrilled that the U.S. has a limp-wristed liberal know-it-all as CIC.

What time? 1940, when we put a trade embargo on Japan, depriving them of needed resources to run their war machine? We imported nothing of importance from Japan at that time. They needed us badly, we needed them not at all.

China is the next super-power. No country stays on top forever.
Britain was the mightiest empire the world has seen.. note I say was, now they are slashing their navy and military to the bone. With political parties like the Democrats, who may be good patriotic folks local level, but whose leaders are virulently anti-American, our downfall is pretty inevitable.
You can’t maintain your status when you build up your military and foreign allies with one party and then the other party comes in and trashes what you just built up. You just can’t sustain a way of life like that.
