World Net Daily Shows Intolerance, Boots Ann Coulter For Speaking At Conference for Gay Republicans
The Lid ^

Posted on 08/18/2010 12:15:24 PM PDT by Amerisrael

[I'll say up front I'm in disagreement with the "LID" on this one]:

"World Net Daily has decided to drop conservative pundit and author, Ann Coulter as the keynote speaker for WND's "Taking America Back National Conference" next month. Because of her plan be the keynote speaker at "HOMOCON," an event put together by GOProud the first genuinely conservative group for gay Republicans."

"WND Editor Joseph Farah reports this exchange with Ms Coulter:

'Asked by Farah why she was speaking to GOProud, Coulter said: "They hired me to give a speech, so I'm giving a speech. I do it all the time."

Farah then asked: "Do you not understand you are legitimizing a group that is fighting for same-sex marriage and open homosexuality in the military – not to mention the idea that sodomy is just an alternate lifestyle?"

Coulter responded: "That's silly, I speak to a lot of groups and do not endorse them. I speak at Harvard and I certainly don't endorse their views..."

"Obviously Farah does not agree with the Ronald Reagan Statement The person who agrees with you 80 percent of the time is a friend and an ally — not a 20 percent traitor."

"According to Farah the reason for their rejection of GOProud their support of same-sex marriage and military service for open homosexuals. A look at the group's web site shows those issues are not the groups priorities."

But it is their right.

So you believe that deviants have special rights based on aberrant behavior? Their perversion was illegal in the beginning of our country. In Virginia they were put to death. It wasn't until the "enlightened (progressive)" 20th century that laws were struck down. Now you want to claim they have Constitutional rights to perversion?

So rude, and with so little knowledge.

Yes, I'm fairly new here. And no, I have not posted here under any other name previously. Secondly, I have never heard of the old log cabins until little jeremiah graciously posted his research about them.

I have also been happily married for the last 22 years. To a person of the opposite sex. Just in case you couldn't see that part in your crystal ball.

The list of legislative goals is from GOProud, the group Coulter is going to speak at. Not the Log Cabin pervs. No doubt their agenda is similar.

Legally, marriage has always been recognized to promote social stability. If two people of the same sex are recognized legally in the same manner, this is more breakdown of human civilization.

What it signals is the marriage means anything and everything, and ultimately, nothing.

They do not have "special rights". Although that's what many of them are pushing for. And with the current admin, they may get it.

Your understanding of the Constitution needs a little brushing up. The Constitution limits what the government may do, not the people. It is the jurisdiction of the states to condone or outlaw specific behaviors as they see fit, but only if it does not violate the Constitution.

You may want to note that I was not the one who originally wrote that Farah is a certified nut job.

However, I question a conservative who would not work with Coulter.

And sure, many rational people believe that pterodactyls are flying over our heads.

Yes, I agree with you.

But then, that's their goal, isn't it?

"You certainly attack those who post the truth about the homosexual agenda."

Another outright lie.

WARNING: Stop including me in your lies. Get it?

You said: under the Constitution people may do as they please as long as they do not harm others.

You brought the Constitution into this. I did not. The Constitution does not give people license to practice perversion. The sodomy laws were at state level.

It is the jurisdiction of the states to condone or outlaw specific behaviors as they see fit, but only if it does not violate the Constitution.

You have that rather bassackwards a bit.

"The way to have safe government is not to trust it all to the one, but to divide it among the many, distributing to everyone exactly the functions in which he is competent....To let the National Government be entrusted with the defense of the nation, and its foreign and federal relations..... The State Governments with the Civil Rights, Laws, Police and administration of what concerns the State generally. The Counties with the local concerns, and each ward direct the interests within itself. It is by dividing and subdividing these Republics from the great national one down through all its subordinations until it ends in the administration of everyman's farm by himself, by placing under everyone what his own eye may superintend, that all will be done for the best." Thomas Jefferson

The Feds are taking away states rights that they were never meant to have and calling it their right. See what Jefferson said again :To let the National Government be entrusted with the defense of the nation, and its foreign and federal relations..... The Feds have no business with this and neither does the Constitution.

And giving homosexuals any special rights as a group tears at the moral fabric of our nation. We have enough immorality.

Calling your friends again? I don't ping mine. I can deal with things as an adult. And what you linked to was incredibly insulting. And you did not ping the person that you posted to in the link. Shame on you. You are again on this thread to disrupt as you did the last one.

I will not answer your posts again. You are very rude.

If this group are allies in the fight against obama and his socialist policies, I say we support them at least in that fight. Who cares what things they insert where. As far as I’m concerned cultural issues are a separate issues from the safety and economic security of this country, and we need all the help we can get to undo obama at the moment. Unemployment and debt are not going to rise as a result of their cultural wishes even if every one of them come true.

I think we are agreeing more than disagreeing.

No state law may violate the original Constitution though. Which is why it was written to limit government, which includes state governments. No state, for example, can make a law that says you can't own a gun (although they're doing their damnedest anyway), because the original Constitution says the government may not take away that right. This isn't a contradiction of Jefferson's statement but a support of it.

The jurisdiction of the states is "Civil Rights, Laws, Police and administration of what concerns the State generally."

Somewhere along the way the Feds usurped States rights - probably the fall out of the Civil War.

That was my original feeling when I read the OP. But it seems to be a little more complex as far as Ann is concerned.
