They are doing those exact same things where my cousin works. All of it. They raised insurance premiums, and in order to get the insurance for what it's 'supposed' to cost, the employees must enroll in their "wellness program". I'm not sure I could ever work at such a place.
So what are they going to hold over the heads of the SEIU government fatties?
Make them eat the food they serve to patients, they’ll lose weight fast.
They’re exempt. They send millions of dollars to the commies—oops, I meant dimocraps.
Who proposed this initially, Rep. Jerrold Nadler?
Aha! They are all doing it. The wellness program drives me nuts. We have half as many people doing twice as much work and they would like us to find time to do things like assemble outside early in the morning for “boot camp.” This is Texas, it’s hot, I don’t do outdoor exercise in August especially before work when there is no chance to shower. Then there are the little instructional lunch lectures, gentle reminders to weigh in, wear our pedometers, etc. Drives me nuts. I honestly feel sorry for the smokers as their days are numbered.
Soooooo....very soon now I will see increased medical insurance fees for avoid homosexuals? I mean, it’s a high risk lifestyle, isn’t it only fair they pay more?
Let’s hope so.
This article is terribly disturbing, and I see NO benefit in this healthcare mandate which is under consideration. Obesity is prevalent in current and prospective healthcare providers, as well as the general population. Potential problems... include but are not limited to 1) Discouraging potentially good nurses, etc. to even consider healthcare as a career; 2) Raising questions among those applying for healthcare positions who don’t get hired to wonder whether or not it was due to lack of credentials or their appearance; 3) Causing dissension among coworkers; 4) Doing harm to the healthcare facility, since obesity is not easy to solve. (About 90% of persons struggling with their weight and who go on diets regain the weight and then some.); and last, but not least 5) Hurt the unemployed, the poor, the elderly, and the disabled. dsat—RN
Agreed. Dsat, you are an RN so you know the incredible pressures staff nurses face daily. Most hospitals are understaffed because of budget constraints and overworked nurses spend as much time on documentation as they do on patient care. Now they will be asked to watch their weight or face losing their jobs? If they are performing their duties what does it matter? Remind you of anything?
Is this a real story?
Its very disturbing, particularly when we are on the cusp of Obamacare taking effect.
The President’s scheme has to have a dampening effect on who wants to enter the medical profession, this just makes things worse.
Its like they are pushing the system rapid toward a breaking point.
I have never believed for a minute that we would wait until 2014 for Obamacare to take effect. It has to be incrementally implemented starting now so as to avoid the shock and horror of introducing everything in 2014. No doubt, you know the story of the proverbial frog in cold water that comes to a boil.
