Thanks. I knew about the abortion. I did not know about her change of heart. RIP.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Patricia Neal, the willowy, husky-voiced actress who won an Academy Award for 1963's "Hud" and then survived several strokes to continue acting, died on Sunday. She was 84. Neal had lung cancer and died at her home in Edgartown, Mass., on Martha's Vineyard, said longtime friend Bud Albers of Knoxville. Neal was already an award-winning Broadway actress when she won her Oscar for her role as a housekeeper to the Texas father (Melvyn Douglas) battling his selfish, amoral son (Paul Newman).

Yes, but none of those other threads talked about her from the religious or pro-life angle, only from the film career angle.

Those are the type of inspirational stories I love to hear.

God bless her and May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, Rest in peace. Amen.

Thanks for the great post!

Neal was pregnant when she had her stroke, was in a coma for three weeks, and then gave birth to a healthy baby.

I remember her with John Wayne in “In Harm’s Way”, also in 1965. She always seem older, to me, than her 39 years in that movie. I wonder if her health was the cause...

I did not know she was still alive, after she suffered strokes some time ago. She was definitely a great movie actress. Nice to know she was a great human being, too. RIP.

Awesome actress. She will be missed! Loved her as Dominque Francon in the Fountainhead.

Hollyweird is truly disgusting these days. They don’t make actresses like Patricia Neal anymore. RIP

My opinion of Gary Cooper dropped a bit after reading this

Sounds like Miss Neal really suffered from that decision to have that abortion long ago

I remember that episode of LHOTP where she is dying and had to find homes for her three kids...very moving story

I always think of her as Maggie in that John Wayne movie

RIP Miss Patrica Neal

I believe that was "In Harm's Way".
