Exactly, 200 bucks in a jar in the kitchen.
You have a point. But someone had to because they wrote it down. They even admitted they have him on tape to verify his voice. I kept asking if he’d talked to the police. He kept saying “The bank did”. I said “No. YOU need to”. He said the bank is handling it. Oh well.
Yep - pretend it’s 1999 again... except make sure you have more on hand. We use a local credit union - would NEVER use BOA or any other large bank. Have even refi’d the mtg with a mortgage company - not a bank! At least we know where the safe is.
Part-cash, part commodities would probably be better.
We do the exact oppposite. As soon as checks clear, we withdraw all of it, except enough to pay the currently due bills and leave small amount (~$50) in the account. Use it as check cashing and thats it. Never trust another bank again.
Go all cash, your money is no safer in a bank these days than it is buried in the back yard. The interest is about the same.
Case closed. They didn't verify anything.
That's true, but it's amazing what a thrill I get from seeing that little 12 cents on the statement.
Well that was a given.
Ours was down for two days(credit union) I wondered if they’d been hacked. Your post makes me go hmmmm.
I could actually live on my credit cards for a few months, but I'd hate to do it. I've made a lot of lifestyle changes to pay them down, and there's just one with a balance now.
The thing that freaked me out was not being able to access the cash I do have, and realizing that it really ISN'T cash, it's just bits 'n' bytes in a computer I don't control. I only knew that intellectually until today. Now I really KNOW it.
I asked them that, and they assured me there’d been no security breach. At that point, I was afraid my identity had been stolen (still on the first phone call then).
Exactly where in the kitchen?
;-)
Empty doesn't do you any good when needed. Keep them filled and use and refill them every month or two to keep them fresh.
Yep. BTW, another incident we had with BoA was when the tax refund check came, made out to both of us. I don't have an account with BoA, so they insisted that I come in during lobby hours to give them a thumbprint. They said federal law requires it. I refused, and we went to my local bank, where they cheerfully cashed it, no thumbprint. There is no such federal law. BoA tellers are trained to lie to their customers.
Just high enough for a .40 caliber bullet to make it through the window. :^)
And we have a fireplace but no wood. I'm telling Hubby we need to cut down dead trees and stock some wood. He just looks at me, "It's 81 degrees and you want wood?" You bet! Cash, wood and stocked food. He knows it's going to get bad. HE started stocking cash around here. I think he's loath to admit we may be "in for it".
What did you say your address was?
:^)
Perfect!
I bought a truckload of wood last fall, used a miniscule amount for unnecessary fires, and it still makes me happy every time I look at that great big pile.
Pistol, rifle and shotgun cartridges of various calibers are a commodity.
