Sarah Palins going to run for president.
She is running. Hers is the most long-term dedicated campaign since Ronald Reagan left the governorship of California in 1975 and became a full-time presidential aspirant.
Notably, the very act of running doesnt cost her resources, but creates resources for her. Shes self-sustaining. Every day her organization builds and her reach expands. The more she runs the more inevitable she is.
In a nutshell, the system, meant to filter out the oddballs, has allowed one in. Never before has someone so outside the mainstream of political conventions had such good national prospects. Shes a classic third-party candidate who, given the organizational benefits of an early and dedicated candidacy, the fundraising advantages of a narrowly targeted base, and the boon of her preternatural access to the media, might easily become a major party candidate. And, given the Republican partys built-in near-50% share of the voting public, shes as likely to become the next president as anyone.
Many things could, of course, derail her. Not least of all if the opposition comes up with a way to effectively characterize her distance from political norms. So far this has been a problem, though, because part of her attractiveness is that distance, and, too, she is distant in ways that are themselves not normal and hard to characterize. Her extremism is not so much fanatical as it is kookyor even comical. The worst thing that can be said about her, so far, is that she is not too smartwily, but dumb. In a nation that, arguably, has become progressively dumber (or, at least, less interested in what used to be considered smart), this isnt much of a liability. The real annoyance, even perhaps more than her inchoate conservatism (arguably, no more inchoate than George Bushs), is her tastelessness. That, too, is hard for the opposition to expressother than in a fumfering way.
The threat for her is that the Republican establishment, which finds her as dumb and tasteless as the Democrats do, will come up with some stolid figure of conservative probity. But saying it that way highlights the problem of competing against an original, vivid, and always engaging outsider. Possibly a Republican congressional sweep will give the Republican mainstream new resolve. But, as likely, Sarah Palin will take credit for that successand she might deserve it.
Its happening, which is extraordinary.
Sarah, if she decides to run, would run because she loves our country. All those others, if they ran, would be running because they wanted to be president.
Nothing really lucid about this article. This is just one of many article by MSMediots now trying to explain how Gov Palin might be elected president when these same MSMediots previously dismissed her as irrelevant to their readers.
So these writer back and fill with the same old insults, but now dont claim these make her irrelevant any more. So once again we have people who were wrong in the prior analysis backing off while claiming sone one else is dumb. Ha!
“I love Sarah Palin but shell lose on the National ticket. The Repubs have to be smarter with who they chose, even though I personally think shes great.”
One thing I can say about Sarah Palin, she evokes a rage in liberals that I’ve never seen before. They loathed Reagan, they loathed W, but I would need to invent a new word to describe the depth of their hatred for Sarah Palin. It will be very difficult for her to win with all the forces of hell eagerly unified against her, but if she wins, boy will it be fun to read the posts on DU the day after the election; there absolutely will be weeping, wailing, and gnashing of teeth.
Not sure but could be this: The clamor emitted by an intellectually challenged hack journalist trying to resonate cerebral verbiage while working a thesaurus and assuming the disposition of having his cranium lodged in his rectum, while besmirching his superiors.
I think they got locked in the basement until he actually won.
+1

Nailed it perfectly!!!!!
That's great. If you'll just agree to vote for her in November 2012, she won't have any problem winning. Yours could be one of the deciding votes.
Oh, from these lips to God’s ear!
I would like to caption that great photo “Palin In The Sky With Diamonds.” It’s fab!
Seriously? You don't remember all the hateful things Patty Davis said about her mother and RR? She was pretty much estranged from them and so was her brother, Ron, the ballet dancer. They both, to this day, hate RR and Nancy's politics and have never been quiet about it.
Plus, their nastiness couldn't be chalked up to teenage mistakes like Bristol.
Let me guess. He's a 'steak & potatoes' man who utilizes the P90X fitness regimen. Drives an F250, listens to George Strait, and drinks pints of hearty stout.

Right?
No, I'm not. I'm pointing out the stupidity in your claims; like the one about Reagan not having a kid who caused him embarrassing publicity (he did), or that Sarah is somehow not Reaganesque enough given these unique times.
Your whole mealey-mouthed, ill-based, incorrect set of points and opinions were aimed at painting Palin as not being The Answer in 2012.
You can imitate me (thank you for the compliment), but when the dust settles, I'll be shown to have been prescient, and you'll still be some copycat, naysaying tool with a defeatist opinion based on nonexistent facts.
Bite it, swisschard.

I adore Sarah, but she will lose the election for us.
Republicans and the American people don’t offer her enough support.
The rats did too good a good painting her as an airhead.
She needs time to build her rep..maybe in ‘16.
I like that!

Can't argue with that in general....but until she officially throws her hat in she can do, as a private citizen, anything she wants...silly to hold her to the same standard as a a known candidate. And it is hardly "sitting on the team bench" when she has already run as VP...been attacked with a venom and aggressiveness by her opponents that I've never seen before already...and come out smiling after each round. I know men who would have been in tears if they had to go through what she and her family has. (I mean look at the Mel Gibson tapes? What a baby.) I'm thoroughly impressed with her...and she gets better each day. Who knows? She may not even run. A lot can happen between now and 2012. I still say...guts...cajones and character...in spades...
True but I can see that is rapidly dissipating.
