WaPo Pooh-poohs patriotic courses being taught by Earl Taylor

WaPo (The Washington Post) seems troubled lately over the growing popularity of patriotic courses being taught by Earl Taylor from the National Center for Constitutional Studies.

Students are flocking to modest hotels where the courses are being taught, drinking in the history of our Founding Fathers and their vision for limited government, allowing individual citizens to pretty much govern themselves, exercising personal responsibility and embracing the work ethic, and not government largess.

WaPo writer Krissah Thompson attempts to intellectually put down Teacher Taylor’s popular civil government class taught at the National Center for Constitutional Studies where students learn that what they are discovering that much of what they see in the Obama administration looks strangely like outright Socialism.

Ms. Thompson emphasizes that Earl Taylor has taught this topic for 31 years and only recently has it become popular. It probably never dawned on her that the boom in interest is probably due to the horrific failure of the change agent squatting in the White House.

Instead of writing about the lessons learned of the value in a limited Republic, she focused on the demographics of the students in the class, a.k.a. white middle aged men, noting that some farmers were in attendance and lacing her prose with remarks and innuendo about white militias, homeschooler types and the likes of Timothy McVeigh.

Bt the part that appears to bug Thompson the most is that Glenn Beck has encouraged people to study writings from the late W. Cleon Skousen, who is the author of the curriculum being taught by Taylor.

As president of the National Center for Constitutional Studies, Taylor has spoken in dozens of venues across America, ranging from political gatherings to church get-togethers, deputizing assistants along the way, teaching and reaching thousands who hunger for the old Republic.

Will America embrace the kind of ‘change’ Earl Taylor is teaching? It’s nothing short of a clarion call to change back to the principles set forth by our wise Founding Fathers, and a 180 degree turn away from Obama’s ‘change’ that is nothing more than tired old Socialism.

Let’s give credit where credit is due....Glenn Beck is the person who started pushing to learn abut our Founding Fathers. I never heard anyone talk about it until he started. Am I right, or am I right? No matter what you think of Glenn Beck, he has done many many things to open our eyes - and studying history and our founding fathers is for starters.

Someone please tell me just WTF is wrong with this Country when patriotism is troubling? We should rejoice in and celebrate patriotism. I'm not just being parochial either, I hope citizens of every Country feel patriotic and are proud of their Country.

David Barton of Wallbuilders has been teaching about the founding fathers for AT LEAST 10 years, that I personally know of.

Amen to you! I’ll tell where a lot of it started as far as I’m concerned. I worked downtown Atlanta years ago and for the first time in my life (does that sound familiar) I heard people talking about what a lousy country this is. The vitriol was overpowering me. These people were not of the majority race in this country but somehow they have managed to posion so many of us with this thought. Then I realized why they all went to church every Sunday....when I mentioned something about visiting their church I was asked “are you a spy?” WTF - a spy for what? It was an eye opener for me I tell you. And then when I was accused of being racist because I “intentionally” pronounced Arnold Schwarznegger’s name inccorectly - I realized I was in unchartered territory for myself anyway.

Because the generation in charge is largely ignorant to history, it must be shocking to learn of a Republic, freedom and liberty, and paralyzing to learn of the role of faith and religion in keeping a republic as well as founding one.

Yes, Glenn Beck is Paul Revere no matter who likes it. He has sounded the clarion call to save ourselves because communists are already in the door. If our country gets out of this mess, and that is highly debatable, much will be owed to Glenn, no matter who likes it or not.

Yes, I realize this however it hasn’t come in vogue until Beck started pushing it.

You have taken the words out of my mouth. Yes, he’s a modern day Paul Revere and I think you’ll agree that Glenn faces more danger than Revere. He has to protect himself, his employees, and his entire family the best he can with all the lunatics running lose in this country. If you haven’t seen his extreme insider where he tapes a show, you’re missing something. I was speechless at the end.

The leftists are intentionally and openly trying to DESTROY this country and provoke race wars to further accomplish said goal. They are all in a frenzy for personal power over others.

The hard left are evil in the absolute.

Earl Taylor was my daughters’ principal in an Arizona Charter School called “Heritage Academy.” It was a good, conservative school that taught about the Constitution, the Founding Fathers, and love of Country. He is a good, honest man. I am happy that he is spreading the word beyond Arizona.

Pray for the safety of Glenn Beck, his family and loved ones, and for the success of the very important work he is doing for our country.

Occasionally Glenn Beck gets on my nerves, when he gets in his drama queen mode, but it took someone with a larger than life personality, and Glenn definitely has one, along with a superb sense of humor, to get the message out that needed to be spread throughout the land. He is indeed a modern day Paul Revere, and for that I thank him from the bottom of my heart. He has brought the founding of our own history to the country and a pivotol point in our history. Bravo Glenn, take a bow.
