So, you want to volunteer for your country or do I have to force you? Get my drift? ;)
You still sound so bitter...

I guess I hold a grudge against people who didn’t answer the call but side-stepped it by going to Canada, joining the NG or Reserves (back then their units stayed home except for 2 weeks in the summer and one weekend a month - they didn’t serve in-country) and never saw battle. They were afraid and took the easy way out by avoiding being inducted into a situation where they would have to risk their life. That’s cowardly.
As for my statement about volunteering for your country or being forced, I’m referring to BO’s plan for everyone to serve in his personal army. It has been discussed on FR and it’s basically a draft with a new name but nobody will be exempt so it’s back to square one. Join the military and fight, for those who aren’t cowards, or join BO’s army and serve without much risk. Can’t wait to see how this turns out.
BTW, it’s been nice chatting with you. Although you may not agree with my terminology, you remain quite civil and I admire that.
Thank YOU for your most civil post. ;o) And, thank you for your explanation. I can understand why you are upset at the draft dodgers...and I think of those who fled to Canada or some other foreign country, to be draft dodgers.
But, I can also understand why some people did their best to get out of the draft. They, simply, weren’t cut out for that job. Those in the military now WANT to be there! And, God bless ‘em for it.
However, this grudge you are holding does nothing but hurt you. I hope you are able to get over it soon. A lot of water has passed under that bridge...
