About that “Monument to Mohammed”….

"Ground Zero Mosque" (neither a mosque nor at Ground Zero)...."Cordoba House"....Park51..."Monument to Mohammed" (As Mike's America so affectionately calls it)....

Is this really about "insensitivity" to 9/11 families, a "slap in the face", dishonoring the memories of the victims by being a "monument to terrorism" and planting the flag of Islam on American "hallowed ground"? Or is it about striking a blow at the ones who are actually responsible for the events of 9/11? A rejection of extremism and terrorism? Or simply a much needed community center for locals living in Lower Manhattan?

The center is not at Ground Zero but two blocks away, and the Cordoba Initiative seeks to build a center, not a mosque. The center is not designed as a local mosque for a Muslim community but rather to serve the wider community.

It is meant to improve interfaith and Muslim-West relations and promote tolerance -- not just to provide services to Muslims.

It’s a defiant symbol of triumph, and as such, an insult. I know it, and you know it. It should be canned.

Have we ordered the plane that will fly into it yet? Can’t think of a more fitting tribute.

Why do they call it “Cordoba”? Because it represents the Muslim conquest of Spain in the 8th century. Is 9-11 a reconquest of the Christian world?

Who is this monument supposed to appeal to? New Yorkers? Or other Muslims?

Where is the money coming from to pay for it? Why is it that they cannot disclose it? Didn’t their leader say that America caused 9-11 to happen?

This helps no one, out of place, divisive, unnecessary, and is causing more harm than good. For the sakes of the families, cancel it.

When ‘Moderate’ Muslims start speaking out forcefully, and continually, against the extremists, I might look more favorably on their ‘community center’. I haven’t heard diddly squat from any Muslim groups in this country, and that tells me they’re either too scared of the extremists, or they agree with them, and just don’t want the rest of us to know about that.

"It’s a defiant symbol of triumph,"

In the long-standing tradition of Islam.

I’m looking forward to seeing the expressions on the faces of Muslims when Islam is wiped off the earth.

so,cordoba house doesn’t have a “prayer room” -? LOL.
call it what you want.

plenty of mosques here consisting of nothing more than a carpeted room in someone’s basement,a storefront
or an educational centre and rec hall with the prayer room.

Then there’s Imam Rauf, who wants to build it, and also admitted that he wanted Shariah Law incorporated in U.S. law.

"Islam has a proud tradition of tolerance. We see it in the history of Andalusia and Cordoba during the Inquisition." - Barack Hussein Obama

Rauf on Obama: "President Obama's much covered "act of respect" to King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, Custodian of the two Holy Sites of Mecca and Medina, was seen by most Muslims as a major and symbolic shift from prior U.S, administrations' attitude. No less important was what Obama said about the United States: It is not a Christian nation." - Chairman of the Cordoba Initiative Feisal Abdul Rauf

Thanks.

I’ve been reading a lot about Imam Rauf, and he is so dangerouis that it seems unconstitutional to allow him to build this mosque. It would be putting NYC in harm’s way AGAIN, and the first duty of the Constitution is to protect American lives.

The Inquisition began in 1492 which was the same year the Moslems were driven from Spain, so what in the name of paganism is Barack talking about?

If intellect were money he’d be penniless.

The Moslems killed many people in their conquest - and if it were not for Charles Martel defeating the Moslems in the Battle of Tours in 732, all of Europe would have been imprisoned under the Islamic death cult. Charles Martel was the father of Pippin and the grandfather of Charlemagne - and the West owes him a huge debt of gratitude. He should be celebrated throughout the thinking world!
