Patrick Kennedy Defends $2 Million "Bike Path"; Rants "You Only Make First Grade Once" - Video

Here is video of Democrat Rep. Patrick Kennedy (Ted’s son) defending a $2 Million earmark for his district to build a “bike path.” Kennedy’s defense illustrates why our country is broke, and despite that fact, far-left progressives like Kennedy just want to keep driving the nation deeper in debt.

Kennedy defends his $2 Million Bike Path by pointing out the health concerns in America – particularly diabetes. He urges paying for the bike path in order to help people be more healthy.

How many people are really going to be healthier if the Federal Government builds another bike path? If you build a bike path in that Rhode Island location, shouldn’t you build them all over the country?

That’s the problem. We don’t have the money to build bike paths all over the country, and we should not be spending $2 Million to build one in Patrick Kennedy’s district.

He then mocked concern over the nation’s debt by mindlessly attacking those who want to bring fiscal sanity to the Government by saying they don’t care about the “deficit” in the lives of children if Congress decides to cut spending.

Kennedy bizarrely ranted that:

“You can only make first grade once in your life – second grade once – third grade once……So if we decide to save money this year, too bad for that kid – because we, all of a sudden, decided to get serious about our deficit. Forget their deficit, that they’re going to live with for the rest of their lives in terms of human potential.”

Human potential?.....................

Oh the irony. And they're going to have to live a long time to pay off the deficit spending Patches ran up for boondoggles like this bike path.

Exactly. It’s not the job of the Federal Government to build bike paths when we are broke.

Very few interstate bike paths... which means it's not "interstate commerce" in nature.... which means it isn't under Federal purview.

(Yeah, yeah, I know, I know... Wickhard v Filburn voided the 10th Amendment. I can dream it didn't happen, can't I?)

You can only make first grade once in your life – second grade once – third grade once……

I've known some people who have made third grade SEVERAL times!

The Kennedy family has been a plague on this country. Is there any possibility that the whole family will just walk into the the sea at Hyannis and save this country further kennedy-grief?

A business associate was instrumental in getting a US DOT grant of $22 million for a demonstration project of bike lanes in nearby college town, population about 80,000. When I protested the expense, he was surprised that anyone would disagree with his pet project.

About a year later we were having coffee and I was explaining fiat money to him. I said that when government has the power to print money, it will use that money to pay for things that citizens would not have voted for had they had the option. I added that it allows government to pay for going to wars that citizens don’t support.

At that instant, he half jumped out of his chair with the shout of “that illegal war!”. It seems that he hated, really hated, Bush’s invasion of Iraq. And now suddenly he understood that the fiat money scheme that enabled his pet bike path project to be funded also funded “that illegal war.”

Many patriots wonder how we are going to fix government. I urge people to look up Randy Barnett’s proposed Constitutional Amendments. But the foremost fix must be to prevent the federal government from spending beyond our means to repay. The primary mechanism of the Leviathan State is the ability to spend money. That ability MUST be brought under far greater control.

We must eliminate perpetual debt. God was very wise when He instructed Israel that debt must be limited in time to seven years or less. see Deuteronomy 15: 1-6.

This would eliminate the ability of the central bank to invert the meaning of money from instruments of assets to instruments of debt. That is exactly what our “money” is today. The Federal Reserve Note is an instrument of perpetual debt, borrowed against nothing. It is an air-backed currency and symbolic of the basis of government’s power: backed by nothing but a mirage.

Maxed out?? He's so overdrawn he looks like a "liars' loan" mortgage holder.

Cheers!

“Kennedy defends his $2 Million Bike Path by pointing out the health concerns in America – particularly diabetes.”

Some people might be healthier if they drank a little less, and took fewer drugs.

It's not the job of the Federal Government to build bike paths when we are FLUSH with money.

Our government is supposed to be one of LIMITED and ENUMERATED powers. I wonder which enumerated power they think includes building bike paths.
