The Chairman of the Republican National Committee Michael Steele looks to have fallen victim to predatory lending.
From The Daily Caller:
"According to public documents obtained by Americans for Limited Government (ALG), Michael Steele, Chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC), is as fiscally irresponsible in his personal life as he has been in the management of the RNC. A rough estimate indicates that Steele is obligated to pay 117% of his take-home pay in mortgages and taxes on his $1.7 million home in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.
This is no ordinary home, but is a 6,440 square foot mansion with 6.5 bathrooms set on an almost four-acre lot."
That is a lot of house for someone with a monthly salary of just under $11,000 per month. How does he make his mortgage payments, which would be over $12,000 per month? Surely he has some other significant income source other than his RNC salary. Perhaps he is still giving speeches for $20,000 each. Or is he isnt a victim of predatory lending, but instead he is just fiscally irresponsible?
Maybe the RNC should take a better look at their leader if they truly want to run on the platform of fiscal responsibility. Significant personal debt is nothing to glamor about, especially when it coincides with running an organization that has faced tough questions on reimbursements for expenses at an strip club and $18,500 for an interior decorator for the chairmans personal office. Seriously!
Read more about this from The Daily Caller.
yes.. those evil PREDATORY lenders hunted him down and forced him to sign a mortgage he could not afford...
How did we get some one as stupid as this as the head of the GOP???
WHEN DO WE MARCH ON GOP HEADQUARTERS? (I bet that would make the news)

Having “Brainless Steele” running the GOP is just crazy-I can’t believe how stupid we are allowing him to screw things up.
At the outset, I had hopes for Steele, but it turns out he’s a train wreck. He needs to go.
Some genius obviously figured we’d fight fire with fire, as it were. I have no more hope in the Geriatric Olde Party.
I’m no fan of Steele, but unless somebody knows what assets he had prior to becoming chairman (which is frankly none of our business), there is not enough information upon which to base the conclusion that he’s either “in over his head” or that he is moonlighting.
And before you smear Steele, maybe you better look at all the facts.
Have you looked at his tax records? Do you know how much money he may be making from investments and how much cash he has on hand?
And you signed up just to post this garbage?
Did you get this in an e-mail from the DNC or did you create it all by yourself?
I guess you have no interest in finding out where did John Kerry get the money for his yacht on his Senator’s salary.
Maybe I am wrong, but you seem to be assuming that I am a Democrat looking to smear Steele. If so that would be incorrect.
I asked some questions myself. The Daily Caller put up some pretty good information about Steele and his financial situation personally and with the RNC. Maybe there is something missing from this puzzle that explains everything. Maybe not - can we not ask that question?
Also, Kerry does have a relatively wealthy wife to support him. The bigger question with his yacht is will he actually pay taxes on it.
Is this a trick question? You like that kool-aid, huh?
The answer: Micky Mouse was busy.
Sarah Palin and RNC-perfect together. Get rid of this clown and put Sarah in charge of fund raising and grassroots activism. She will GOTV and fill the coffers.
Steele was never prepared to actually deal with conservative grassroots concerns. The job now requires someone who actually understands and respects conservative values.
