Chris Matthews has pulled off the rare unassisted triple-play of inanity. On this evening's Hardball, he:

1. Argued that enforcing the Arizona immigration law would put police officers in danger because illegals caught in a stop would be under tremendous "moral pressure" to use violence to escape.

2. Repeatedly abused a Republican guest. For the sin of disagreeing with him on immigration law, Matthews variously slimed Arizona state Sen. Rick Murphy as a "B.S. artist," a "hopeless right-winger," and "not serious."

3. Most egregiously, claimed that deporting illegal immigrants from the US would constitute a "pogrom."

Once the hardworking, dedicated, law abiding Federal employees are allowed to actually enforce EXISTING LAWS, the people in question will willingly, go home.

Coming from Chrissy Matthews who waxes nostalgically about the neo-communist Progressive Movement he should use the word 'pogrom' cautiously. But no one is calling for rounding up masses of illegal aliens. No need to. The following things would motivate them to deport themselves.

• Deport on contact with LE.
• Enforce the law strongly on employers of illegals.
• Strong border security. Build the physical fence and use high-tech surveillance.
• Eliminate entitlements for illegal aliens except for true emergency care.
• End the "anchor baby" policy.

Let him go and say the same thing over in the European Union. Is Matthews privy to their little arrangment with Moammar Gaddafi, where Libya scoops up boats of people headed for the EU and does who knows what to them afterwards . . . ? How about the ones that are already in the EU, where they (along with legitimate refugees) are thrown into detention centers (essentially concentration camps) for a minimum of 1½ years, with no contact with the outside world, no right to representation, and no guarantee of having their case heard?

As usual, Matthews hasn't thought this through. I wonder if he has considered the danger in the southern border of our country becoming a no-man's land. Sooner or later that is going to lead to tragedy, and then that idiot will be asking "how could this happen?" The real cynic in me wonders if he doesn't hope something bad will happen, to create a crisis that won't be allowed to go to waste.
