Well, you don't really expect the guy to say "Really step up the Marxist indoctrination" do you? (Not that they don't already do that too)
His mommie runs a school for poor kids on the South Side of Chicago. Bunch of limo liberals feeling good about themselves. That is the template I think her son uses. Every kid in America is in that bad shape and needs the Duncan family to help them.
What happened on March 21?
Or we could turn education over to the private sector and compete internationally in half the time it takes the government schools.
Post #19 I couldn’t have said it any better. Excellent post.
Thanks for the extremely kind words!
The House passed socialized medicine.
I guess it would be beneficial to students to have church organizations come in and try to offer after school programs. But do you really think any religious organization will be allowed to operate in public schools.
No, I think it is another secular program for the government, using our money, of course.
In the CA high school where I work, we already provide free breakfast and lunch, free pre-natal care and vitamins, free daycare, free student supplies in many classrooms, and free transportation during the regular school day. What’s another few hours and another meal!?! Wake up, America! The students taking all these handouts have no allegiance to the United States. They even root against us at soccer games. They take. They don’t know how to give— not even their loyalty.
No, she should go home to her own children. Here in CA, our district has contracted with the teachers, through their union, to be at work until 3:30 every school day. The employee parking lot is practically empty at 2:40.
I know my view is skewed since I work at a public high school in CA. If my child wanted to be a teacher, I would immediately send them to school in a different state so they could experience, and be trained by, high quality teachers.
Ah, OK, then we’re in full agreement on your tagline.
Kids need time to be kids. They need to explore and play. They need time to be with their families. Would you enjoy a 12 hour work day, 7 days a week?
Children are not miniature adults. They have vastly different needs.
I don't think that would be a good idea! But churches have excellent facilities in many instances that sit empty most of the week...that could be used for after school programs.
What I really meant to say is that churches and government roles have reversed over the years. Rather than feeding the poor and hungry, today churches all too often line up to pressure government to have more entitlement programs...from their tax-exempt buildings.
I disagree that children need more serious schooling early on. I think they need time to be kids.
Wow, moving the goal posts, there. I think kids can have PLENTY of time to “be kids” AND have more serious schooling than is now provided by a typical public school. I should think a home school mom would agree. Please don’t reply; we’re done.
Touchy when someone doesn’t agree with you, aren’t you?
I didn’t change the goal post. You have been trying to qualify your original statement since you made it.
As a homeschool mom I don’t believe in making children full time students.
You obviously think they need more serious schooling and I think they need more time to just be kids.
We can disagree without you being testy.
Don’t expect to insult me and have the last word.

Actually, I didn’t insult you, and you are lying by saying I did. But I will now: You are a liar.
I heartily agree with you up until the, while the GOP Leadership stands on the sidelines being congenial. At this point with Congress having only an 11% approval rating and still falling, it is the American people standing on the sidelines being congenial.
We wait, in our "civilized manner" for the ballot box of November, but if the leadership ain't doin' it now...they ain't gonna do it after November either.
When does congenial become too chicken? When do policies and laws clearly against the Constitution get called for what they are...treacherous and traitorous?
When do we call those in DC, sworn to uphold...what is it...oh yeah the Constitution, failures. They have failed to uphold and execute their sworn duties. And no, I am not talking about democrats here. I am talking about Republicans and their congeniality contest. Dear Republicans, it is time to break a few rules of parliamentary procedure or are you too chicken?
Indeed it is the wild imagination that leads to innovation. To take that away from our children, to take that ability away, to disallow wild freedom of imagination is to doom them in their adult lives. Twelve hour school days under constant control...the evilness of such an idea is astounding.
The only thing that comes to mind at the moment is the wife beating husband/boyfriend who doesn't let his woman out of his sight, the religious cults that use constant observation to brainwash and the child abuser...dear Lord save us.
