I have heard liberals say over and over again that Obama's policies of more regulation and taxes, more government bailouts and stimuli, and more government programs is the only way that we can hope for an economic recovery.
In a very practical and real way, Australia is proving liberals wrong.
The IMFs World Economic Outlook (WEO) shows that Australia remains a world leader in the global recovery, with stronger growth, lower unemployment and much lower debt than other advanced economies. Together with todays strong employment figures, the IMFs report shows the Australian economy is still well ahead of the curve and continues to benefit from the Governments strong economic management.

Many of us here on FR have been saying this for years. Washington has forgotten that fiscal policy also includes tax cuts as well as spending increases and tax hikes. So what are our bozos in Washington doing? They're going to let the Bush tax cuts expire, which will make things even worse. With the economy in the Keynesian Liquidity Trap, this BS about the Fed doing anything constructive is whistling in the graveyard. Gov't spending simply doesn't change consumer expectations in a positive way, and that's what we need. Cut ALL taxes (personal, corporate, capital gains) and stand aside and watch the market "go heal thyself". Politicians are just screwing things up by standing in the way of meaningful progress.
Is there hope? Not much. Politicians still believe it's in the country's best interest to take money from productive people and give it to the unproductive (but voting) people. That's why we need to clean house in November.
Born and raised in this country that I’ve loved all my life. Glad to know there is a country I may go to if this one tanks, and it will if we don’t get rid of the social scum in control now. I’ve never been so disgusted in my 60 years as I’ve been recently.
We already had an example proving liberalism wrong. His name was Ronald Reagan. It sounds like Australia is following Reagan's rather than Hussain's model, and it's working like it does every time it's tried.
The other factor in Australia's favor. They don't allow the free for all rush of uneducated from the third world, especially in times of high unemployment.
“Australia remains a world leader in the global recovery, with stronger growth, lower unemployment and much lower debt than other advanced economies.....”
Not for long, and it’s really not true already.
The bulk of Australia’s wealth comes from mining, and Rudd did everything he could to destroy that business, and now they replaced that fool with an avowed Marxist. It’s very sad, but it does not look good at all for Australia, unless they can kick the leftists out.
The cost of living in Australia as at least 50% higher than in the US. Most of those who contributed to pensions all their lives are seeing them tank. And the new leftist administration has opened the door to any would-be looter claiming to be a, “refugee,” with all benefits free.
Don’t trust the MSM propaganda.
