One Day in D.C. was written by An American Man who went on a rather interesting journey across these great United States, from San Diego, CA to Washington D.C., and back again, in just one day. Enjoy!

Inside most men and women is a spirit of adventure, a desire to break out of the norm, to do something daring and bold all too often squashed by everyday living that drains the life right out of our weary souls.
So we hope and dream until we can afford a real vacation, and in the meantime we settle for the typical weekend night out with friends. Some people go drinking and dancing. Others go see a movie to escape reality ...
Well this past week, the last week in June, I had an idea. I often have ideas but I actually felt like I needed to take this idea a few steps further. I thought about Independence Day, July 4th, one of the biggest holidays of the year. No presents like Christmas, but one of those holidays we all enjoy because we are celebrating Freedom! OUR Freedom! We eat hotdogs, wave flags, enjoy a good fireworks display its all around good fun, celebrating the fact that we live in a free country, not under communist rule, where we can pretty much do whatever we want, wherever we want, whenever we want, with whomever we want Gotta love this country!
At the same time, we are of course aware that things could be better. They were better, or at least seemed better, not too long ago. Now we are a bit skeptical, perhaps concerned, some more than others, about where this nation is headed ...

It is exactly as he described it. He should have arranged to fly into Reagan and stay in Crystal City. And not rent a car. All of the grocery stores here sell the helium balloons. There are so many freaks on the streets that people are reluctant to interact with anyone they don’t know. The Capitol is barricaded on the west front (and it was probably fenced off for the 4th of July concert); you have to go around to the east front entrance. Oh, and nearly every office in the city hands out copies of the Declaration of Independence and Bill of Rights.
Interesting; thanks for posting it.
you’re welcome ... I wish the news would have picked up on this one. Too close to the White House?! Hare Krishnas? insane.
The interesting part of this article is the foreigners being so eager to get copies and not everyday Americans. People from other parts of the world know more about American history than the average dumbass American. They also know how fragile the freedoms we enjoy are and how they’re slipping away. Depending on the country, I would imagine that most foreigners actually recognize most of the “soft tyranny” being imposed on us by the kenyan and know what’s in store.
It is not surprising to learn what he encountered. While I share his passion, I know that people are wary of strangers coming up to them and thrusting literature into their hands. Most people are understandably suspicious.
Sounds like his biggest problem is a lack of good planning, e.g., is it possible he really thought he could take a tank of helium on a plane?
