Third and foremost, the president charged Mr. Bolden to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more the predominant Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contributions to science math and engineering.

What, in the tenets of Islam, has anything to do with the reasoning required to do high math, science and technology? There is some question, among historians, that Muslims were actually the discoverers of the technology that is attributed to them. It's considered possible that the technology was simply part of the existing culture that was subsumed in a Muslim takeover.

But even if some of that was 'discovered' by Muslims back in the medieval era, what NEW science, technology or mathematics is coming out of the Muslim world today? With the fatalism of that ideology, how would anyone create anything new, and square that inquiry with Islam?

The cost of U.S. military intervention in Libya has cost American taxpayers an estimated $896 million through July 31, the Pentagon said today.

The price tag includes the amounts for daily military operations, munitions used in the operation and humanitarian assistance for the Libyan people.

The U.S. has also promised $25 million in non-lethal aid to the Libyan Transitional National Council, half of which the Defense Department has already on MRE’s (military lingo for Meals, Ready to Eat).
