Obama Sidesteps a Diplomatic Fuss (Did Obama bow to Saudi King again?)

One way to get around the whole bowing problem? Don’t let in the reporters until you’re already sitting down.

President Obama played host to King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia at the White House on Tuesday but avoided the diplomatic trapdoor he fell through a year ago by greeting the monarch without cameras around to record whether he bowed first.

The president raised eyebrows and stirred criticism in April 2009 when he encountered King Abdullah at a summit meeting of the Group of 20 nations in London. As Mr. Obama approached, he appeared to bow before the king. The White House later said he was simply taller than the king and leaning over to shake with both hands, but on the video, the bow looked deeper.

This time, the president and king were already in the familiar wingback chairs in the Oval Office when reporters and photographers were ushered in to record the event. The two leaders then spoke for a minute or two, giving the standard testimonial to Saudi-American friendship and reaffirmation of their joint interest in combating violent extremism, stopping Iran from building a nuclear weapon and advancing peace in the Middle East.

Someone help remind me—if Barak Hussein Obama bows to King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Bin Abdulrahman Bin Faisal Bin Turki Bin Abdullah Bin Muhammad Bin Saud, is he a Sunni or a Shi’a?

Can’t see it but the King is wearing Levi’s

Maybe someone can enhance it or photoshop it.

Maybe the picture will get out to the King’s people that he is not wearing the traditional diaper that all muzzies wear.

Of course he bowed, he feels compelled to. That is also why no cameras were allowed at the initial greeting. If he wasn’t going to bow, why no cameras? I’d bet you just about anything you’d care to name he bowed, and his people are learning (slowly, how’s that on-the-job-training going?) to avoid the flak.

A better way to get around the whole bowing problem? Don't bow. No president has any business embarrassing the American people like this.

This seriously needs to be a debate question for every candidate in 2012: "If elected, will you bow down or make other signs of submission to foreign leaders"?

The portrait of George Washington in the same room with those camel jockeys is obscene.

" "If elected, will you bow down or make other signs of submission to foreign leaders"?"

Why not? He rolled on his back and peed on himself for the Russians. Meanwhile ,back at the ranch, he won't lift a finger for those in trouble on the Gulf Coast.

Makes you kinda wonder how many Arabs he’s bent over in front of if it’s such unconscious gesture.

The problem is it is not just not the Arabs he bowed to. He bowed the Japanese as well if you remember.

Wow. The NYTimes implies Obama isn’t truthful and he’s bowing where he shouldn’t be.

Pigs are flying. They must be cueing Hillary in the wings.

There is a joke there but I don't think I'll take it any further.

"They must be cueing Hillary in the wings."

Don't count that out. Bill and Hillary are having wet dreams right about now.

Of course he did. That’s about like asking: “Was Obama born here?” He can’t produce a birth certificate. He bans cameras from the reception of the idiot king so he can bow and scrape.

By the way, is there a stupider looking person than the Saudi king?
