This Is What America Is Exporting To The World
Howard Stern and Bill Clinton also helped to dirtify the pop culture of women, but not without the help of feminists, themselves.
Naomi Wolf, leading womananity spokesperson for decades, originated her career by criticizing women for wearing makeup and the poor example they set by encouraging young girls to look good - thus attracting men to their non-mental attributes. Years later, Mizz Wolf reprogrammed her spiel and decided that, indeed, women and girls could actually flaunt their stuff (act and dress like prostitutes) and thereby be empowered. Yes, the women who bragged on their braless, unshaven armpits and legs now lectured that lookin' like a ho was actually an expression of female empowerment (attracted more dude money).
Miley To David Letterman "I'm Not Trying To Be Slutty"
Long before Miley Cyrus even dreamed of doing lap dances or slithering up and down a stripper pole, Christian Aguilerra performed the super raunchy "Dirty" video so it would be known among teens everywhere that she was empowered to be dirty. Britney Spears had to prove that she was also as dirty and genuinely Not That Innocent by including herself in a threeway lesbo kiss with Madonna (the original Like A Virgin NOT! dirty woman) at the 2003 MTV Music Awards.
I will spare you all the "Miley Kissing Girls" pics taking over the Interweb, but I think we have the picture - or video: Calling Joe Francis of Girls Gone Wild. You are not going to run out of young bimbos anytime soon for your $9.95 Girls Gone Wild "specials."
Most astonishing of all, is that once a girl/woman is caught in the act of skanking it up, her first response is, " I'm not a ho. I am basically very modest." Take the case of model Lisa Cohen who was unfortunately disfigured by a lowlife NY doorman/bouncer a couple of years ago and sued Google to find out who caller her "a skank" on the internet. She won the case while protesting she was definitely "not a skank." Also unfortunately, pictures of Ms Cohen surfaced on the net depicting her involved in, at least skunky (for legal reasons I will not use the skank word)behavior.
So, you have all these "basically nice, modest, relgious, pure-as-the-driven-snow" ladies, who look and act like hos, demanding reverence and respect. And, sadly, they will get it.
It's always amazed me that many decent girls go after what I call 'stray dogs'.
Have you ever watched the Hannah Montana show on Disney. She always had that annoying 'fake Southern accent' voice. There is nothing more irritating to someone, especially a real Southerner.
Isn’t she from Kentucky or Tennessee? Or isn’t her father from one of those places?
There's been a pattern recently where females become famous for cute kid roles at ages 6-13, then as they go through puberty and approach legal age, the "forbidden fruit" thing kicks in and whether enamored of their own bodies or guided by people who see money in underage pseudo porn, they engage in increasingly outrageous behavior. At age eighteen, when the allure of "forbidden fruit" is over, they fade into obscurity.
Brooke Shields is the only one who avoided this fate, but she was the trailblazer. If she hadn't posed nude at age ten, she would never have gotten a movie. The trading of innocence for cash is old, old, old. Charlie Chaplin ended up marrying an underage girl. When the girl was around thirteen or so, her mother did everything she could do get Chaplin alone with her daughter, knowing that Chaplin was likely to try to seduce an attractive, underage girl. Once he did, she blackmailed him into marrying her so she could get Chaplin's fortune.
Alicia Silverstone was another actress who made her money as teenage jailbait. As soon as she was legal, her career died. Natalie Portman, largely due to her role in The Professional, had a huge following from the pedo set. The only thing that kept her in the public eye after she reached legal age was her role in the Star Wars prequels, and those parts could have been played by a mannequin.
With Miley Cyrus, sorry, she's not cute. This is what makes her more dangerous than any of the others, with the exception of Spears. What drives her popularity is NOT the old creepy guys, it's her appeal to young girls who want to emulate her.
Her father is from Tennessee, and she did spend her early years there. But, to me, on the TV show, she seems to force or over emphasize an accent. Maybe it is her acting coach or something, but it is irritating to me.
There are plenty of girls next door, the thing is, girls from hollywood or caught up in that business are hardly the girl next door type.
I wouldn’t be sure of that. I read somewhere in an article discussing the same topic that the people most likely to watch her youtube video’s were pre-teens and older men.
I joined the club after I saw her performance in "Miss Congeniality". She, and the movie, were a hoot, and I ended up buying that DVD because of her. She's about the only one who still draws me into the movie house anymore these days.
Why is it that once they get to hollywood they eventually morph into white trash? Bullock locks lips with another victim of GID and thinks she is cute, not white trashy.
While I haven't followed the Miley Cyrus story, it's followed me. Although I've never deliberately tried to see a picture of her, she's almost impossible to avoid, unless you stay out of the supermarkets, off the TV and the internet.
What's always struck me when I have seen pictures of her is how much hoopla has been generated over someone who is so spectacularly ordinary. She's not ugly, but if she walked down a hall at a high school, nobody would turn to get a better look at her. I've never heard one of her songs, so maybe she's a terrific singer. I did deliberately go to Youtube when Spears was popular to hear one of her songs. What struck me was that there was a lot of manipulation of her voice (echo chamber) and that she mostly stood in front and wiggled while all the other more talented dancers did the actual dancing. She was a total media creation, but before the meltdown was quite beautiful. If Disney can make Miley Cyrus a star, they can make anyone a star.
Hey, that's one of my favorite movies. I watched because it was Luc Besson directing Jean Reno (again, previously in Nikita) and Gary Oldman. Portman was very good in it though.
It was a good movie, but didn’t you find the relationship between the two lead characters a little disturbing?
You know her falling in love with him is quite plausible in that situation. He's the first adult ever to be nice to her. I give kudos to Besson for having Leon keep it a father/daughter, mentor/student, friend relationship. If you watch the version with deleted scenes, he refuses her advances.
Of course what disturbed most people was a 12 year-old girl learning to become an assassin, and taking part in hits.
I had to come to New Mexico to marry my girl next door........Beautiful, intelligent and not a mean bone in her body.
Your point about her being naturally attracted to the only adult male that had ever paid attention to her is true, but this is also problematic. The assassin, as depicted, would probably have had a sex drive, but like other people of low intelligence, would not channel or control that drive, and would likely respond positively to her advances. I would submit that the reason he spurned her advances was not an artistic decision, but a marketing decision to allow the movie mass distribution, as opposed to the minuscule distribution that a movie like "Hound Dog" received. The Professional played to the pedophile angle while staying far enough within the norms to avoid censorship.
A lot of men are attracted to underage girls. This is the reason so many men from all walks of life are arrested for child pornography and attempting to meet underage girls on the internet. Jon Benet Ramsey became a big story because stories about her drew ratings. Stories about her drew ratings because there were photos of a five year old girl dressed up like a Las Vegas showgirl. If Jon Benet Ramsey had been ugly, there would have been no stories, other than a write up locally.
It fit with the character. It's a bit twisted, but while he was an assassin, he was not so immoral as to take advantage of a 12 year-old girl. He only had one friend in the world, the plant. With her he got another friend, with a much more complex relationship. He became her father figure, her mentor and her friend, while she taught him not only reading, but that he could be a friend, and love someone. Her being a little girl from a screwed-up family confused love of the friend or family type with sex. Given her family life, that's probably how she learned how it is expressed. Given that his expression of his love was to give his life for her rather than bed her shows he knew better. Leon had a pure love for her, not screwed up by sex.
Of course pedophiles will get whatever they want from it.
Me, two of my favorite actors and one of my favorite directors, It's going to be a good movie.
To be fair, the "commando" pic of Miley that's currently circulating the internet was photoshopped.
