Called Wachovia early this morning to reorder checks. In the process, I must have hit a button I wasn't supposed to.
The next thing I hear is a recording. "As of November First, all emergency procedures will be in place, and all Wachovia personnel should stay with their families. If you have any questions, please contact your Sector Supervisor."
Now, I'm not a nut, but the next thing I know an operator came on the line and asked me, by name what they could help me with. Got me looking over my shoulder, and I don't have nerves, just nerve.
You should be FLEEING out of New Jersey!
It's time to go smoke an unfiltered cigarette, eat a slab of barely cooked meat and the wife better look out when I get home tonight.
?????????????????????
I got up early just to connect to our internal website. searched for “sector supervisor” because I’ve never heard of that job title before... and it doesn’t exist. I’ve only dealt with regional directors. I’ve been with the company (from the wachovia side) for over 15 years. it is possible that they maybe talking about the branch supervisor, which would be one step up from a branch teller.
also, it’s been months since the merger. and the ‘rebranding’ effort has been going on for quite awhile. we’re required to identify ourselves as wells fargo instead of wachovia.
we have a bcp (business continuity plan) website. i only read it for like 5 minutes before i got bored and feel like going to sleep. i’ll look more when i actually get to work and have my coffee. if my memory serves, they send out memos frequently on emergency preparedness. but i believe that’s very common with most big companies. and i was bombarded daily during the msm hyped “swineflu disaster”.
your tag line - love it
I work out at a corporate fitness center. When I was leaving the gym about 3 weeks ago I noticed a new sign on the lawn Emergency Assembly Area. What kind of emergency are we talking about? Company has been in business 100+ years.
Hehe! Never let a good Conspiracy go to waste!
Frasier’s ex-wife, right?
For your list - I don’t have time to check if you’ve been pinged already.
Be back posting in about a week or so.
Nope, the other one.
Cold. Much colder than it is now.
It sounds like you stumbled upon a pre-recorded business contuity message.
Regulated companies are required to have a disaster recovery and business contuity plan in place, and to test that plan on an annual basis.
In the event of an emergency, part of the plan often includes employees calling a special number to receive status updates and instructions.
You likely accessed the “stay put and wait for more news” message that employees would receive as the default message. Other messages might include “personnel in response group a are to report to recovery location x, etc...”
I understand your concern, but I wouldn’t worry.
Nov 1st was likely the date of the last business continuity test.
If you hear anything, let us know...
Shadow - you did the right thing by sharing. It might be nothing - we don’t know - but one of these days someone brave enough to take a risk like you took will save us all... Keep us updated.
