Pelosi's Crooked Catholicism
The American Thinker ^ | June 13, 2010 | William Sullivan

Posted on 06/13/2010 3:48:40 AM PDT by Scanian

Few would have guessed it, but Madam Speaker Nancy Pelosi has become quite the outspoken Catholic. In last month's Catholic Community Conference in Washington, she testified that amnesty for illegal aliens would be a "manifestation of our living the Gospels," and that our legislative paths should be paved by the concepts found in the word of God. Specifically, she alluded to the scriptural reference of Jesus Christ, the embodiment of "the Word made flesh."

But Pelosi's legislative record does not suggest there is any truth to this spiritual proclamation. She has actually been one of the biggest obstacles to the passing of legislation supported by Christian doctrine, and it takes only a brief glance at Pelosi's history to deduce that this speech was just lip service to a group of people that would find such notions agreeable. There have been many occasions on which Pelosi has failed to protect Christian values when she has had the ability to do so.

FTA:Pelosi's hypocrisy on this matter borders on wickedness and evil.

Wrong -- Pelosi is the personification of wickedness and evil.

Pelosi isnt a Catholic, she is a Democrat.

He religion is the democrat party and she is her own Pope.

She makes it up as she goes along, her powers are as the Popes. She does not feel obliged to obey anyone, she IS the one. At least in her mind she is.

The Catholic Church is nothing more to her than votes from the rest of us idiots that belong.

Take, for example, an incident in September 2007, where the Concerned Women of America organization petitioned elected officials to take the city of San Francisco to task for their offensive advertisement for the Folsom Street Fair. The city had agreed to use taxpayer dollars to promote an advertised corruption of Leonardo Da Vinci's The Last Supper, with Jesus Christ replaced by a shirtless man surrounded by homosexual sadomasochists. Furthermore, there was photographic evidence from past years to prove that San Francisco police sat idly by during the event while young children watched public displays of sex and debauchery. The group implored that Pelosi address the offensive use of taxpayer funds and that she ensure that public lewdness laws would be enforced during the event.

How did devout Madam Pelosi respond to the taxpayers' moral concerns about such public depravity and offensiveness? Her press secretary released the statement, "As a Catholic, the speaker is confident that Christianity has not been harmed."

I clearly remember this happening. She has created scandal within the church and has excommunicated herself. Now the Bishop needs to act. I am not holding my breath.

Pelosi isnt a Catholic, she is a Democrat.

Democrat - First and foremost. Excellent point. Being Catholic is down the list of her priorities. For her to invoke here faith as justification for political action is an insult to the abolitionists of the 1800's and civil rights activists of the 1900's. Illegals should be given amnesty because "God told me so"? This woman is on the brink.

I’m not surprised to see her temporarily find religion on this one.

Since the demography of illegals tends to be Democrat and Catholic, you can see the two groups working together on amnesty, based purely on momentary self-interest and not on a grander of vision of what America can and should be. This is NOT leadership.

Whereas conservative Catholics and Protestants alike form a solid block on the abortion issue, the amnesty issue splits this block down the middle. Catholic people need to step up on this issue and tell their leaders “NO” to any kind of amnesty.

This isn’t lost on the Democrats, they will try to make it the wedge issue this fall.

Nothing that a quick ex-communication wouldn't cure.

Nancy is TEACHING in a manner that is contrary to the Magisterium. She has gone beyond where most of the CINO politicians have gone, into a realm that directly encroaches the teaching authority of the Pope and Bishops - especially with her recent attempt to hijack the Word, and her novel reinterpretation of St. Augustine last year.

BUT the only way that anything might come of it is for lay Catholics, especially those in the Archdioceses of San Francisco and Washington, to write to the Archbishops of those cities begging that she be declared excommunicate BECAUSE SHE IS PUBLICLY TEACHING IN A MANNER CONTRARY TO THE MAGISTERIUM.

When you consider that the Catholic church will not excommunicate this woman, you see the churches corruption manifested in yet another way. It is amazing, really.

Were I to break into her home and set-up camp in one of her spare bedrooms, would she allow me to remain as a “manifestation of our living the Gospels” or would she call the police and demand my removal?

Anyone who doubts it’s the latter is a moron.

She should STFU.

For many democrats, government is their god ! Instead of the Bible, they have the laws as their holy words.

I don’t know, as an outsider - it wouldn’t surprise me at all if “The Enforcer” ex-communicates her. He might wait until she is no longer Speaker of the House, but I can see it happening.

This nasty woman has done so much to hurt the Church. She has been a cause for scandal among Catholics— and a source of confusion to non-Catholics about what Catholics really believe.

I hope God tempers His mercy with justice in this case!
