Somebody's finally got it right on the Second Amendment

It would seem that discussions of the Second Amendment over the years have missed the mark with the policy wonks and politicians. Not so with some folks across the fruited plain. Todd Fitchette writes in his blog "Across the Back Fence" on the true meaning of the Second Amendment, quoting Senate testimony from a Dr. Suzanna Gratia Hupp on the day she decided to not arm herself for self protection, as was her custom. I think it's more important to note what she told Senators about the Second Amendment. Read the blog AND view the YouTube video for a more complete picture and viewpoint. Schmuck Chuck is impervious to the truth, he can't have his dream of marxist tyranny resisted by armed citizens.

The issue has never been about public safety, it is about concentration of coercive power in the hands of government.

There are well meaning people in the gun ban movement but they are naieve fools, "useful idiots".

Any public official that is afraid to be surrounded by armed constituents is a public official the constituents need to be armed against.

It’s nice that people are waking up to the true meaning of the second amendment. I got so tired of hearing that crap about hunting.

People need to realize that the second amendment covers all arms from pistols to machine guns to explosives. If it comes to fighting tyrany the use of explosives will garner more success than firearms. The insurgency in Iraq has shown that a few dedicated people with some bombs can hold off an army.

And there are numerous state laws concerning the carrying of a knife that can get you misdemeanor or felony charges. I believe it it important to roll back these laws as well. It’s a self defense issue, like firearms. A person should not be criminalized for carrying a certain type of knife, or carrying a knife with a blade longer than 3 inches, or inadvertently or purposefully “concealing” a knife.

I would think that various kinds of blades were used for self defense at the time of the founding and continue to be usable for that purpose today, and that they are included in the meaning of “arms” in the 2nd amendment to the Constitution.

To All: check the keyword “kniferights” to see what is happening on this front, that some are calling the second front in restoring our natural rights as described in the second amendment.

Well, I read the article after posting and see that it is about the 2nd amendment in regard to tyrannical government. I believe in that part of it too. Here's a picture that Travis McGee posted with this caption.....

"Only well-trained professionals in the military and the police need guns. History proves that civilians are much better off without them."

Very true. I like to add that "any public official that is afraid to be surrounded by armed constituents" is not a representative, but a occupying despot and an enemy of liberty.
