It's Complicated
The American Thinker ^ | June 11, 2010 | Randall Hoven

Jon Stewart pointed out something interesting: how often President Obama or his underlings tell us how complicated or complex the job is. So I did some searching on the White House web site to see how often such words appear in various speeches and remarks. Below is a partial summary, going back only through April. (Emphases added.)

"There are some complicating factors... That is very, very complex... It's the breadth and the complexity of the disaggregation of the oil, which I don't think was accounted for and anticipated in any plans. It's very complex. It's one of the hardest things I've ever had to deal with personally... It's increasing vastly the complexity of the response, yes." Adm. Thad Allen, June 7, 2010.

There was a report that barges were heading to the gulf to block entrances. At the end of the bit, they mentioned that this was the National Guard at work....

Uhhhh...And where were they before this??

Working within any large bureaucracy is complicated. Quite apart from any "electoral" issues, bureaucracies are highly political. Issues of scope and conflicting responsibilities abound, and it's hard to get things done.

It doesn't take a lot of executive experience to learn this. Unfortunately, Obama had absolutely zero executive experience. I imagine the complexity came as quite an overwhelming shock to him.

It has been said that if your only tool is a hammer, all problems look like a nail.

If you have no tools, all problems look complex.

What if one, like Obama, IS a tool? ;-)

Would that be the tool used to pound sand?
