Andrea Tantaros makes a great point here. During Katrina, a disaster that occurred during Bush's watch, celebrities were falling all over themselves to get on camera to "help" the victims.
No so with Obama's oil spill:
In case anyone is questioning it, celebrities are terribly concerned about the Gulf of Mexico. Actor Sean Penn has said he "cares about New Orleans." Actor Brad Pitt has spent days in the region assisting with relief efforts. And Jamie Foxx has raised more than half a million dollars to help those living in the area put their lives back together.Oh, wait: That was in 2005, in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina - when George W. Bush was President.
Back then we saw A-listers come out in droves to shout about the man in charge, draw attention to the need for assistance and help marshal resources in the relief effort.
Angelina Jolie, who has often mentioned her love of New Orleans in interviews, sent letters to members of Congress and the White House. Penn visited the wreckage on a tugboat, with a shotgun (photographer in tow). John Travolta personally flew supplies to the area on his private jet, while dozens of more famous faces donated to and participated in a nationally aired telethon.

This reminds me of Nashville last month and the “invisible” flood. I bet if you polled the American public, less than a third would have any idea about the damage the spring flood did to the city. Of course, Obama didn’t travel there, either.
We've had oil mishaps before...Ya clean it up...
Apparently, they like Haiti better...AND JINDEL is a Republican!!!!
So, in this case just who is John Travolta supposed to fly relief supplies to? The current disaster is different in nature than a hurricane tearing through a city. Angelina Jolie flew supplies to Indonesia too. I don’t particularly care for celebrities but this is a bit of a reach. Are they supposed to build oil booms and put them on a ship and take them out there?
I’m not going to attack celebrities who do spend their own time and money giving aid.
because it was about politics... all of it. starting with leaving the people in new orleans instead of shipping them out... deliberately leaving them in harms way in order to score political points.
just like the dems collapsing the housing market before the 2008 elections. or screaming about leaving iraq in 2 weeks during the 6 weeks running up to the 2006 elections, thereby keeping iraq destabilized and making conditions for our people worse... longer.
yup... all to help the little guy... help progressives get power
Remember when “commander zero” was going to show “Bush the Cowboy” how disaster relief was done” Remember how quickly haiti dropped off the radar screen when things weren’t going as planned, when all of a sudden it didn’t look so easy and it was tarnishing zero’s image?
I agree. In this disaster, while longer lasting, there isn’t a great number of people needing emergency supplies. There are no victims to splash across TV, no daring rescues.
However you’d think as much as they screech about environmental issues, they’d be saying SOMETHING. But “Republicans love big oil” only goes so far.
Two old guys met on a park bench in Florida, so they started trading stories.
One asked: How did you make your money?
The answer: I had a factory that burned to the ground, so I retired on the insurance money. How about your money?
The other said: Im here on insurance, too. My furniture store was wiped out in a flood.
Both men sat there quietly for a while, and then the first man asked:
How do you start a flood?
“Obama is so stupid he admitted he didn’t see the oil in the water as a problem. he says he usually buys his tuna packed in oil not water.” —Jay Leno
spike is doing a movie now on how obama blew up the oil rig the same way bush blew up the levees.
bump
The Illegal didn’t blow up the rig. All he did was take BP’s bribes to let them run it as sloppily as they wanted. The end result, of course, was the same.
are you then saying that Bush didn’t blow up the Levees??? no way, I heard Mike the ahole Meyers say that Bush hated black people.
No, you didn’t hear Mike Meyers say that. Kanye West said that. Mike Meyers looked aghast.
