This is the update to my “My Challenge to Alan Colmes” article. After I put that post together, I sent it to Colmes along with a friend request on Facebook. He wrote me back to thank me for the friend request, but did not respond to this email in which I challenged him to a debate on Islam. Mr. Colmes,

I just saw a video where you stated that there is no such thing as radical Islam, and also that Islam is not the problem. Do you care to back your statement up in a debate? If so befriend me, and head to my wall.

Since Alan has debated everyone of note my theory isn’t that he refuses to debate you. Rather he doesn’t think you’re worth his time to debate. I doubt it’s anything personal, he probably gets a few hundred offers per week.

Alan Colmes is incapable of debating. He can’t even make his own variations on a talking points. When those fail he puts up a very anemic straw-man. Then he tries a Pee Wee Herman-like reply ala “I know you are but what am I?” He will repeat those three tactics ad-nauseum.

Dennis Miller had an interesting take on what Colmes said, inferring that Colmes meant all Islam was radical therefore there is no such thing as radical Islam.
